Folks - Religion has nothing to do with why I posted the vid. I'm stirred every time I hear the Star Spangled banner partly because it's a very patriotic song, partly because I can visualize the conditions under which it was written and partly because I spent my childhood pledging my allegiance to our flag every single school day.

I thought the singer did a great job (a whole lot better than I would have done) and it offered up the opportunity for others to hear a piece of the song they may never have heard before. Nothing more, nothing less.

It's not the National Anthen which upset me; it's the context in which it is posted both on YouTube and Fox News. I'll continue below, but in no way am I trying to justify my previous post: I was overreacting, and misreacting to Rick's post.

I realized your actual intent too late.

The National Anthem is very moving and emotional. Unlike the ones in some other countries I've visited, it is not militaristic. I can't imagine a better pairing of words and song to express passion for the United States.

I should have simply said as much earlier and left it at that.

So for what little it is still worth, I do apologize.
