Almost all emergency food is vegitarian based. That is why we all keep the .22 rifles well fed. There are bunnies/squirrels/chickens in the back yard that will make the veggies fit to eat.

Barley vegetable soup + one bunnie= good eats.

Uh......no. APacks, MREs, Mountain House, Alpine Aire, Rainy Day Foods, etc. all have the bunny inside already.

As compared to MREs which go out of date day after tomorrow, sometimes quicker.

I am not a big MRE or prepackaged food stores type. I think more in terms of the beans, rice, dry grains stuff that lasts until the pyrimids collapse.

Would you believe I have a 55 gallon barrel of shelled corn?

I need two, in case company shows up.

Actually, Mountain House freeze dried #10 cans last up to to 30yrs. And that includes meat entrees like Chicken a la King, etc.

Check the fine print. 20 years at 60° but only 10 years at 70°. Heat is a killer on that stuff. I just hope I don't have to eat any of it on a hot day. It will probably have turned to dust.
