Smith 342

[aflineman]

Picked up a Smith 342 Ti AirLite awhile back. Has an aluminum frame and a titanium cylinder. At 11oz, it is just about a perfect pocket carry. It will handle .38 +P, but they must be a jacketed and crimped bullet. Otherwise they may come unseated with recoil.
Shooting is nice with light wadcutters. With full house 38 specials, it is certainly a handful, but not unmanageable. Took me a bit to get used to not having a hammer, but it has a crisp trigger that stages nice just before release (or pulls through easy when you just want to snap shoot at a target).
All in all, I thing this is what a pocket J-frame .38 should be. Light, reasonably accurate, and easy to shoot.

Back in the day I carried a J frame for a back up. I used wadcutters, was much easier to handle. Certainly not a 1911, but much better than a spiball :)

Congrats, cool little number, truly a CCW.
When I picked up the Ruger LCR it was a toss up between the two Ruger vs Smith.....The Ruger KLCR tipped the scale as it will handle .357's as well as the .38's.

That is an all time off duty favorite. Years ago a good friend of mine used his model 60 on a "fuzzy thing that nibbles" in a parking lot in the French Quarter. It went something like this: Some dumb @zz, dope head tried to ''roll'' my friend and attempted to bite a piece out of his face. You see, the robbery didn't go so well for this jack hole. The perp is now paralyzed from the lower chest down. At least now he can't procreate. Handy lil felon repellent to have when you just don't feel like luggin' around a heavy hitter. Very nice piece indeed.
