Anyone make obsidian knives? or know someone who does.

For my other business I would be looking to buy 100-300 of them. I'm pretty sure I can get them from India, but would like to try to keep the business in the US if I can find someone who can do it in quantity at a reasonable price.

wow; that's a lot of work.

you'll probably be looking for a slab knapper (or several), and most likely one with their own rock saw. in this way, the rock can be cut into slabs and then the slabs cut into preforms. you can buy these ready-made of course, but they aren't very cost effective.

for traditional knapping, 300 knives would require possibly a ton or more of boulder

don't get me wrong; if i were sure i could deliver i'd jump at the opportunity. i've been trying to get up to obsidian country to quarry some stone for a long time now, and i do know a guy with a big lapidary saw.
