Took A Break On The Way Home

I had meetings today in Apopka (middle part of the state). On the way down I travel on Interstates to get there, but on the way home I take the back roads. It takes longer, but is much more enjoyable than the Interstates. I stopped at Juniper Springs in the Ocala National Forest for a walk on the way home.

The springs there are really striking. It is difficult in a few of the pictures to even tell that there is water flowing by. In the first picture, the water is about a foot or two deep. The darker area is a grass bed at the bottom.

The reflection of the sky and trees makes this difficult to tell in the picture, but the water is about 10 feet deep here. The lighter areas are where the springs have created boils. The subterranean water that is coming up pushes any debris to the side and creates miniature eruptions in the sand. There can be huge caverns below these boils. Those are branches that have settled on the bottom.

Crash..I did a float trip in my teens, I believe it was fed by Juniper Springs. The water was crystal clear and cold in the summer.
