Recently we had a young Newby come on here without posting an intro. I visited his profile page & based on what I read there I decided to ASK (note: NOT DEMAND) an intro. On of our newer members took offense, although it wasn't them I was posting to, & bailed. I thought about it & here's how I feel about it.
1.) You made your decision to come here on your own, & you are most welcome to leave the same way. The Forums are gaining about 3-5 members a day so I know your absence will not affect the membership growth.
2.) If I feel that an intro might be helpful or in order for various reasons then you can bet your boots I'm certainly going to ask for one.
3.) Leaving over something like that is assinine! This person was supposed to be a mature adult, but now I sincerely doubt it. I can't believe they got their panties in a bunch over it. However, maybe they prefer the company of strangers so I wish them well on their journey to find that "perfect forum" where they can drop their britches, bend over, and let the mods "smooch away!" Sorry, but "Homey don't play 'dat!" If you have a problem with me asking anbody for an intro, for crying out loud, DON'T READ IT! DUH!!!!
That's all, end rant. :cool2:

This thread has nothing to do with wilderness survival.

Thats funny as hell. My thoughts further on the subject might get me in trouble, so I'll leave it at that.

This thread has nothing to do with wilderness survival.
That's why it's in the "general chat" section: "...talk about anything except politics & religion." :cool2:

I agree with Sarge, and I said so one way or another many a time.
An intro is a social context especially in the absence of a face to face meeting. Can't imagine giving and taking advice about important (survival) matters in a vacuum, and can't fathom the type of person here who would.
Now people can make up all sort of stuff, but most don't, I'd venture to think...what would be the point? Is virtual approval that important, to compel one to lie? Eventually the truth comes out anyway.
Honestly, I don't understand this resistance when it comes to introducing oneself. I am suspect of anyone who thinks it's a deal breaker when it comes to sharing something about themselves or asking newcomers to do so. It just doesn't feel right on so many levels and people like that have little credibility with me--for what it's worth.

It's just plain old good manners to introduce yourself. You don't need to give a life history.

Only one introduction has been asked for since our last kerfuffle on the topic. I'm so glad that the one post wonders that asked a question, were given a warm, and meaningful response, have decided to jump right into the conversation. I said that I would personally give it a month, and I will - but really - I don't believe it matters (to the amount of participation from new members). Those that were the most vocal on the practice have done nothing to change things (by way of contributions) since the last dust up. What has happened though is that some contributing members have decided to take a hiatus.
I should note - I truly believe that the intent of the last thread that Sourdough started was meant to improve the forum. Sadly it turned into something else.

I for one will just plug along, this forum does seem like home to me, and has for a while.
But even in a home, 'stuff" happens and I'm sure that things will work out in the end....Hopefully for the better.

Was that the one that started off with him insulting Rick? Or was it the one where he wanted WSF members to tell him how many security people his neighbor could legally have? Or maybe the one where he wanted the WSF members to tell him how to insulate his light socket, or how (or if) he should eat Kelp. Oh, Oh, Oh....you must be talking about the one where he says that the revolution/EOTW is near.:FRlol:
Oh wait....Are you talking about the one that he had you lock, because he didn't like what people were posting. Maybe the one where he wanted to know if someone on another forum, was insulting him.

I am very upset...I did not know about, nor was I invited to the kerfuffle...on the other hand it was my turn to provide refreshments and beer,,, y'all lost out..LOL
Seriously tho, asking for an introduction is exactly the right thing to do...I agree, if a feller or a gal gets thier panties in a wad over that,,,,well cannon fodder is important too also..
God Bless

I asked crash for some clarification. I didn't ask you for jack.....and as far as "manning up", and being happy, I'm not the one who is always *****ing and whining like a little girl who didn't get her way.
