Just to let all know that someone else will need to take over the Devil's Advocate role for a few days. I am off to the wilderness, such as it might be found in eastern Ohio. At least we are out of anyones' cell phone range, so everyone puts them away and after the first day or two they forget that such things exist.

Big camp, 75 families, more than 200 people.

Those of you that are prone to speaking with the Big Guy upstairs, please keep me in your prayers. This was my late wife's favorite annual event. It is also my first attempt at a long term camp since she passed away. Primitive camping was a centeral focus in both our lives. We met in a camp and she passed away coming home from a camp.

She would have considered that a good thing. She would have really been peed off if she had died at work!

I just got back a couple of hours ago. Rough week emotionally.

I saw a lot of old friends and nearly melted in the heat. Not a day with high of less than 90 degrees.

This was the 10 year aniversary of this particular event. 105 camps with average of 3 people per camp. We had 40 kids under 12 and 27 between 12-18. That is a bunch of kids! They had classes, the adults had classes. Even the little kids had workshops.

I am going to have to change my operation and lean more to hostoric site and museum work, doing lectures and demonstrations as I was doing several years back. I can concentrate more on 18th century life skills and woodslore and keep my mind focused through the events. The fun-camps remind me too much of my wife. Too much sitting around time, poking the fire with a burnt stick and remembering how things used to be.

I see you made it back, but it sounds like your having a tough time making it all the way back........Does get a little easier, but will be tough for a looong time.
It also sounds like you have a plan for your journey, and have taken that first step.

Well I am sure it was tuff emotionally since it was the first one you have attended since your wife's passing but now it is over and hopefully the next one won't be as rough. Take care and remember your wife expects you to continue to enjoy life. From the way you have spoken about her she would not be very happy if you did not continue this thing that you both loved so much. May God bless you and ease your pain of her loss and know that he continues to have her busy in her new life with him.
