Rabbits everywhere in my yard

Must be mating time.
Talk about easy prey.I tossed a rock at one and hit it.
The varmint never moved out of the flower garden.
Might be a good time to work on my snare or figure 4 trapping skills.

What kind of rabbits? Cottontails are my favorite for eating. We have snowshoe hares here. They are okay but not as good as cottontail rabbits.

Sometimes they're quite scarce around these parts,since the coyote population has risen.

I spotted a nice size snapping turtle on my way to work yesterday morning.As I don't know anything about cooking those up,I just let it be.
It must have made it across the road as I didn't see any splatter on the way home.

Cottontail populations are cyclic also. Some abundant years followed by years when the numbers drop substantially. They are good eating and easy to skin though. It's one of the few things I miss from when I lived in Kansas. (I miss the squirrel hunting and thunderstorms too.)

The part about the New England Cottontail being on the protected list is most interesting.

Bear in mind too that while you may be able to shoot an animal damaging your property (may be), the use of snares here is against the law without a trapping permit.
