buckshot shooter gizmo thingie

A friend gave me a little outfit that shoots buckshot out of a rifle. It's a simple little affair made from a spent case. there is a insert in the base of the case made from s.s., sized to take a ramset charge. Then a buckshot is pushed into the mouth of the case. the ramset charge is the propellant. After using, the ramset charge is replaced and a buckshot seated and it's ready to go again. The kit comes with a sizing die for the buckshot. The buckshot is pushed though with a brass punch and it sizes it to .308 or so. This model is for a ought six. I played with it earlier this year and it shot good.

is it practical? I don't really know but I do know it shot well and is a option for small game. It goes bang and is fun too. It's very similar to a chamber insert but instead of using a loaded cartridge it uses a ramset and buckshot.

Not sure what you're describing, Randyt. Your text describes using a single buckshot pellet as a bullet in a .30-06, if I understand correctly? But the last photo shows what looks like an adapter to shoot a .22 rimfire from your .30-06? Not sure what the connection is.
Using buckshot is fine if resized as you describe. But round balls are poor ballistic projectiles. You'll get far better accuracy at longer ranges with cast bullets, and they're about as cheap.

usually I use Townsends Whelens grouse load. It's a load using a 175 grain full patch bullet with 15 grains of imr 4759. It's a long story but I have thousands of 175 grain full patch bullets. It'll be some time before I'll need to be casting for a grouse load. That's a lot of grouse LOL. Sometimes in my 30 wcf I use a few grains of red dot and a buckshot lubricated with lee liquid alox.

The gizmo described above uses a buck shot shot with a ramset charge inserted in a cartridge adapter of sorts. the lower photo shows the base of this adapter. My thoughts are that cci must manufacture charges for ramset. A ramset is a tool that shoots fasteners into concrete using a 22 lr looking blank. It's called a hammond game getter.

Thats kinda cool, I have never seen one, or even heard of one....Who makes it, or is it home made? Are they still available?

If ya google hammond game getter it should come up. I'm not knowledgeable on the particulars as the one I have is a gift. I use the green charges in mine. It's sorta kinda like a adapter that uses a primer to propel a bullet except this one uses a ramset charge.
