gander mountain---Getting out of re-loading supplies.

Went looking for some different powder today, to my local Gander Mountain Store.

I have felt lucky for a long time as they are close by and although expensive....seem to have what I need for re-loading supplies.

I asked the guy for the powder I wanted, he opened up the magazine (locked powder cabinet), and was just about completely out.
Some Pyrodex and Triple 7 BP substitute....But little else.

He then explained that all the stores are getting out of it?

Good news was remaining stock, dies, primers, brass bullets, 40% off, but still not much of a selection.

That was the last local gun shop that carried any supplies for quite some time.

Came home and ordered up what i need from Midway Shooter Supply, but has a Hazmat fee of $25 bucks per order.
And you can't ship primers and powder in the same box......2 fees even if on the same order.

Fuel costs are killing shippers and they are using any excuse they can to recoup losses (or take advantage of the situation). I had a delivery for a consolidator last week and noticed they had a 28 percent fuel surcharge on each bill. Odd since my company was delivering it and they had not moved it anywhere.

It is really a pitty when places like Gander Mountain abandon the shooters and sportsmen that have long been their primary business so they can become just another casual wear and camping goods store.

If people will buy it they will sell it. I've had really good, and really bad experineces with this place, most others i just have really bad experiences with.

Blame the internet! first it was the mom and pops, and now the retail chains are even suffering.

Lucky for me we have a real live gunsmith right down the road, been there ever since I've been here.

Yeah, I know that a lot of mom and pop places are getting killed by the interweb, and I'm thinking that it is more politically correct to just avoid the hassle.
But I really don't like buying a pound of powder for $16 bucks and then pay a fee of $25 bucks........

Besides , if I can't go to the "toy store" under some ruse or another....How can I visit all "MY" guns, to see which one are needing to come home with me.
