A while back company policy changed so we could not smoke in our trucks anymore so I bought one of those things. It's not the same for me but to anybody that sees me smoking while driving my truck it looks the same so I just keep smoking cigarettes and they think it's an electronic cigarette. I said this before and I'm gonna say it again at the risk of invoking ire and all sorts of $#it.
If you're a master of prep and still smoking, you're in denial. You think that all your supplies, firearms, BOLs & BOVs are gonna insulate you from the world of hurt that's gonna come your way when you least expect. When your body says, you know, I've had enough I'm shutting down at the most inopportune time. Is it really worth it? What, you think you're just gonna drop dead, and that would be the end of it? That would be easy, and it seldom happens like that.
We quibble over all sorts of technicalities when it comes to preps and yet no one wants to acknowledge the elephant in the room--indulging in stuff that clearly jeopardizes our our health and long term survival without anything having to hit the fan.
All I can say is, stop rationalizing and start doing what you know is right.

I have chewed for 15 years and even after I was told I had gum disease, I did not quit. When the dentist told me they had to do a biopsy on my mouth because I may have cancer, I quit. I never thought I would have to deal with this, expecially at 30. If you smoke or chew quit now before it's too late.

A questionable (shadowed) x-ray scared the "s*&t" out of me and required a cat scan. Thankfully, it was determined to be crossed veins or possibly a nodule. That was 4 years ago. After having watched my Dad go through lung cancer surgery 20 years earlier, I SHOULD have known better, but we all have ways to rationalize behaviors, and put off what we know we have to do ... especially with the calming / supportive effects of nicotine. Anyway, I didn't sleep for 2 nights after the initial alarm, and it scared me into stopping cold turkey. I used the lozenges after a couple of weeks when I really got the urge ... just enough to get me over the hump. You have to watch not to get addicted to gum or lozenges ... but they were easier to quit than the cigarettes. This was all before nicotine vapor delivery systems. Trust me ... if I can quit (never thought I could), I know you can too. Take the Nike approach ... just do it! Regards ...

I just imagined each cigarette as a nail in my coffin. Every puff was the hammer tapping the nail in. I also kept telling myself how bad they smelled and how bad they tasted. Visualization is a powerful tool.

When I was a young turk I cut and harvested tobacco for a living amongst other farm chores. After a day of cutting and hanging I would get sicker than blue blazes. First I would get the chills then the shivers. This would go on back and forth into the night. I decided then that tobacco was a poison.

That's my understanding and I'm surprised they backed down. I don't think they questioned or believed that it was a tobacco product but because it delivered the nicotine they felt it was more in the medical realm. I think they just settled on the tobacco thing to maintain some control over the product. At least that's my understanding of it.

Don't smoke. never did. Too cheap to buy the cigarettes I guess. It also messed up my singing voice, which I'm told is pretty good. Tried cigars, a pipe, but never snuff or chaw. However my voice would start sounding bad so I couldn't keep doing it.

There was a bus driver I worked with for 7 years who chain smoked every chance he got. Several months back he was diagnosed with severe lung cancer. He died last month. He was in his 50's and well liked by all. He is missed.

Smoking is NOT allowed on Transit buses, & that includes the electric kind.

I've always liked this saying: "Kissing a smoker is like licking an ashtray!"
