Nominations for the first Boots In The Field Award are now open. Here's how it will work.
1. The period for consideration is October 1, 2010 through December 31, 2010. This is not a lifetime achievement award.
2. You can nominate as many people as you want.
3. When you nominate somebody, please include a link to the thread(s) that you want them considered on when voting opens.
If you nominate somebody and do not provide a link to the threads, or if the threads are outside the above dates you want them to be considered for, it does not count.
Once somebody has been nominated for a specific thread, do not nominate them again for that same thread. If you want them considered for a different thread, then submit it.
When voting opens (in about a week) the nominees will be listed with a link to all of the threads to be considered.

I would like to nominate Asger for this one http://www.wilderness-survival.net/forums/showthread.php?t=14002
I feel that for a younger member Asger has always showed maturity and a true willingness to learn,, he has made several videos as well ,, I like his enthusiasm , his contributions to this board are admirable,,,, :)
Well, we had some really good ones. But I have to nominate YCC for his Braintanning the Simple (or Overcomplicated) Way. Truly excellent!

Hey Crash...with your voting method, it will be possible for a person to win and be runner up, right? Was that the intention?

No. I'll list their name along with all of the threads that were submitted. When we vote it will be foe the total body of their experience. So, if somebody has three threads of "experience" it may (or may not) influence somebody to vote for them.

I certainly appreciate it Rebel, but I've had those videos on the forum for a while. I just copied them to the new video section, so those really are outside the window of consideration....and Rick is right abut links.
Didn't want you eliminated on a technicality.

What if a person has already been nominated for the same thread I want to nominate them for?
A lot of the threads I wanted to nominate folks for fell outside the dates..
I would like to nominate rwc for the maple syrup and making the most out of his deer.

Hunter63 for his help with getting my gun bag together
http://www.wilderness-survival.net/forums/showpost.php?p=261744&postcount=12
and I second the nomination for grrlscout for fermenting and her contributions to "whatcha cookin". The mesquite thread is a really good one too, so I'll pick that one.

And Crash for his wicked weekend with wasps!

This might be redundant and in lieu of my initial questions, I'll leave it at that.
There were others I thought were really good too, and I'm sure I'll add some more as time permits me to dig through the threads.

I think Crash said only nominate once for the same thread:
"Once somebody has been nominated for a specific thread, do not nominate them again for that same thread. If you want them considered for a different thread, then submit it."
For example, I was going to also nominate you for the braintan thread, but someone already beat me to it. I was going to nominate others, but got beat to those ones as well. You gotta be quick on the draw, lol.
I'm still going back through and trying to find threads I wanted to nominate folks for, but am having a hard time finding them.

rwc got it right. It's not that you can't do it, and if you do it's no big deal. When I set up the thread for voting it will list the members that have been nominated along with the threads for consideration. Submitting the same thread over and over will still only result in it being listed once in the voting thread.

I want to nominate finallyME for this thread

There were other threads he posted that clearly demonstrate he is overcoming obsticals to get his boots in the field by making his own gear. Some of us just have to step out our back door but he goes the extra mile to get it done and passing this admirable trait on to his son.

Ok then this one should fall in the dates.

finnalyME's posted trips don't fall within dates but I count self reliance and making stuff with your hands "Boots in the field" experience for survival.

I would like to offer a prize, but I'm not sure I'll be done with it in time. Once voting opens, how long will we have before a winner is decided?
Between work, processing meat, and all the other stuff, I'm kinda pressed for time. A man has to sleep sometime!
