KINGMAN Its not even January and two bills proposed in the state legislature could turn into a heated debate during the 2011 state legislature.
The 50th session of the Arizona legislature begins Jan. 10 with two proposed state House bills that could allow guns on college campuses. The first House bill, HB-2001, allows university or community college faculty members to carry a concealed gun on campus. A faculty member would be a professor, an assistant professor or a lecturer. It does not include research or teaching assistants.

Very interesting. You gotta love those folks from Arizona. I sure hope President Kearns understands that the shooters would be the ones shooting at the police and the innocent people are putting down their weapons and doing what the police tell them to. Kinda easy to tell them apart. And if his security folks can't hit a target 15 feet away with a handgun then may I suggest additional training is warranted.

Kearns also said the odds of a trained security officer hitting a target at a distance of 15 feet are minimal at best
This, coupled with the limited amout of security officers, sure sounds like a great reason to not worry about protecting yourself....doesn't it?

LOL...that reminds me of some of the CC laws, here in N.C. You're not supposed to carry a gun into any place that charges admission.
Yeah, think about that one. Races, truck pulls, county fairs, movies, etc., etc,...LOL

I have learned some things about concealed carry since I got my permit.
1. Concealed means concealed. A CCW is not permission to strap a hog leg on you belt and defy anyone saying anything about it.
2. Concealed means concealed. If no one sees it they do not know it is there, and can not protest its presence. They never see it.
3. No one is really looking. I hesitated to carry concealed, before the permit, for many years because I did not want anyone to spot the gun and call the police. I have now been carrying for several years and have found that NO ONE NOTICES any hint of my weapon being present.
I have come to the conclusion that I was worrying way too much. I now carry everywhere except for the usual courthouse visit or when I expect screening.
As for the signs scattered about, I ignore them. No individual or committee has the authority to deprive me of my rights as a citizen. If it is illigal for them to discriminate based on race, creed or political affiliation then they can not discriminate based on exercise of any other constitutional right, private property or not. It is like giving Wallmart or any other establishment permission to put up a sign saying no Mormons, Baptists, Cathloics or Republicans allowed!

i carry a pistol quite a bit and no one really seems to ever really notice. granted it's montana and lot's of folk carry so it's just normal i guess.
sticking to the op; we as citizens should be able to carry a firearm anywhere we choose IMO. it's crazy that even here in MT it's "illegal" to carry a firearm on a college campus.
i just don't get it.
back in my college days most of my friends had a gun or two in their dorm room anyway...

A few months ago, me and my other half were on the way home, from out of town, and stopped at the county fair, two counties over from where we live. They had metal detectors set up, that you had to go through to get in. They also wanted $18 per person. ($18 each, just to get in. That didn't include any ride tickets, or anything else.) My other half looked at me and asked "What do you want to do?" I told her that if it was bad enough in there, that they had to check everyone for knives and guns, I didn't want to be in there unarmed! I heard someone behind me laughing. When I turned around and looked, it was a deputy. He smiled and said "You think like I do".
We walked back to my truck............and went home. LOL

that's sad that this country has come to the point where 'they' have to put up metal dectectors just to get into the fair. and then they want 18 bucks just to get in.:(

They have a big sign in the post office. No Weapons.
Indiana doesn't specify how you can carry. It's not a CCW. It's a carry permit. You can legally carry concealed or open.

If ya get caught with a gun in a post office its a federal beef,, Not good....
I don't think it's considered a federal facility. I think it falls under USPS regs. I'm not sure about that however.

US Code Title 18
930. Possession of firearms and dangerous weapons in Federal facilities
(a) Except as provided in subsection (d), whoever knowingly possesses or causes to be present a firearm or other dangerous weapon in a Federal facility (other than a Federal court facility), or attempts to do so, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than 1 year, or both.
(b) Whoever, with intent that a firearm or other dangerous weapon be used in the commission of a crime, knowingly possesses or causes to be present such firearm or dangerous weapon in a Federal facility, or attempts to do so, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than 5 years, or both.
(c) A person who kills any person in the course of a violation of subsection (a) or (b), or in the course of an attack on a Federal facility involving the use of a firearm or other dangerous weapon, or attempts or conspires to do such an act, shall be punished as provided in sections 1111, 1112, 1113, and 1117.
(d)Subsection (a) shall not apply to— (1) the lawful performance of official duties by an officer, agent, or employee of the United States, a State, or a political subdivision thereof, who is authorized by law to engage in or supervise the prevention, detection, investigation, or prosecution of any violation of law;
(2) the possession of a firearm or other dangerous weapon by a Federal official or a member of the Armed Forces if such possession is authorized by law; or
(3) the lawful carrying of firearms or other dangerous weapons in a Federal facility incident to hunting or other lawful purposes.
Title 39 CFR 232.1
(l) Weapons and explosives . Notwithstanding the provisions of any other law, rule or regulation, no person while on postal property may carry firearms, other dangerous or deadly weapons, or explosives, either openly or concealed, or store the same on postal property, except for official purposes.
(p) Penalties and other law. (1) Alleged violations of these rules and regulations are heard, and the penalties prescribed herein are imposed, either in a Federal district court or by a Federal magistrate in accordance with applicable court rules. Questions regarding such rules should be directed to the regional counsel for the region involved.
(2) Whoever shall be found guilty of violating the rules and regulations in this section while on property under the charge and control of the Postal Service is subject to fine of not more than $50 or imprisonment of not more than 30 days, or both. Nothing contained in these rules and regulations shall be construed to abrogate any other Federal laws or regulations of any State and local laws and regulations applicable to any area in which the property is situated.
q) Enforcement. (1) Members of the U.S. Postal Service security force shall exercise the powers provided by 18 U.S.C. 3061(c)(2) and shall be responsible for enforcing the regulations in this section in a manner that will protect Postal Service property and persons thereon

Yeah, Title 18 is a strange bit of legislation whoever it applies to. Explain Subsection 3. I've never figured that one out. If you are hunting lawyers....never mind.
I know the USPS is considered the second largest civilian employer behind WalMart.

well as my understanding as of now, you can 'legally' carry in national parks without permit. at least i know you can in MT, but i do believe it's nation wide.
i never go to glacier anymore (to many people-we prefer the 'bob'), but alot of folks do. i carried there years ago on several occasions. no one knew except for me and the wife... in these parts you have to be prepared for griz.
I think you meant WITH permit. And that's my understanding as well.

Ranger stations. We have to go in to check in and out at Big Cypress. So are we supposed to disarm our CCW when we have rifles or shotguns.
We need common sense laws...

Until we get some people in positions to use common sense that ACTUALLY use common sense, we'll never have common sense laws. Today it seems that those in positions to make common sense judgments/rulings/writing and passing laws are so concerned with the "legal-ese", that common sense wording is long forgotten. However that would eliminate so many jobs as to hurt the economy. If plain everyday English was used, then many judges and lawyers would become unemployed.
I think it funny That military manuals were once written to be understood by someone with a 4th grade education. Yet laws require someone with years of college and years of Experience in interpreting the laws, to decipher their true meaning. It is my opinion that ALL laws should be written the way those military manuals once were. If it is perfectly clear to a 4th Grader, then 99.9999% of the population should also be able to understand/interpret the laws.

no i meant 'without' permit in MT. a person can carry concealed 'legally' in 98% of the state without a ccw permit. and can carry open anywhere(except gov. buildings,bars,banks)-and they are trying to get that changed with the new legislature. we also are going to get passed a new bill that allows ccw within city limits without a permit-like AZ.
anyone here can have a concealed weapon within city limits without a permit if it's in a vehicle,purse,backpack,briefcase,etc. it just can't be concealed by "an article of clothing".
I'm with you. Mea Culpa. There are still places on this planet that don't require permits to carry. God bless them every one.
