Used to be I had an Enfield in one vehicle and a .22 in the other.

I sold the Enfield and bought three MN with the money.

Now I have one of the same gun for each vehicle and I am trying to figure out how to get a spam can and saddle boot attached to the bicycle.

I can't say I have any leanings either way when it comes to AK or AR other then I carried an AR and the other guy seemed to prefer an AK. But I have to tell ya I did enjoy reading the comparison. Might just have to see if I can find a Mosin to give it a try. :>) Can't say I've seen any of these beasts at any of the local gun shows. Not a gun expert here so going to have to ask a dumb ?? Is the ammo readily available? Or do I have to make a trip over to Europe to dig some up?

You can buy it just about every where and in any amount you want. The mulsurp is corrosive of course.

You can still get the MN dirt cheap, too. $70. Not bad for a near 30.06.

I hunted with a guy that used one. 10 years ago, ammo was not an issue. I dont know about now (he moved away) but I doubt anything changed. You can buy it bulk at a gunshow if there are any in the area but he was able to get rounds for it at Walmart.

I haven't seen it, at my local wal-marts, but it is cheap enough at the gunshows that I have a little stash of it now. In fact, I ended up with enough, that I started thinking that I wouldn't live long enough to shoot all that ammo, through a couple of bolt actions.......so I obviously needed a semi-automatic in 7.62x54R. Turns out that PSL's are fun!:stuart: LOL


(All this of course was before all of that stuff got lost in a tragic canoeing accident.)

As a side note, at one time I was trying to decide between a AR and a AK. After lots of thinking about the pro's and con's of each, I bought a Ruger Mini-14. LOL

Agreed...and though it isn't as sweet a deal as a mosin, a PSL is still a pretty good deal, in my book. Think about it....the price ain't bad, for a high power, magazine fed, semi-auto.

Another side note. The scope on mine, is as clear and bright as anything I've ever looked through. I don't know why....I'm just not that smart. LOL

When you click on that Aim Surplus site go over to the long guns section and check out the prices. They usually have MN for $70 in very good condition.

Both the Polish and Russian ammo is good quality. I have gone through nearly 200 rounds of the Polish 147gn without a dud yet and the consistancy has suprised me. It is not target ammo, but there are no wide fliers in my groups.

Gun shops usually jack the price up to $150 on the shelf. If you have a dealer that will work with you for a flat FFL transfer fee you usually do better. I live 50 miles form AIM so I run across the river and pick my stuff up.

My brother had an MN and it was fun to shoot, a few times. We could find the ammo fairly easily. It was also cheaper than 30-06 cheap ammo. If I remember correctly, the Druganov uses the same ammo. I plan to get an MN just for showing off to friends when we get together to try out new things. I don't think I would ever take it hunting.
