After SD's thread of arrogance or confidence I wonder if we have thought of our own mortality: death being as important as our birth, just a completion of the circle?

My own thoughts on this is:

I want to die as painfully as can be and take a long time in the completion

So I can remember what living really is and what I will miss.

I want it to be an reverse surprise party. Instead of the lights coming on and every yelling I think everyone should be yelling first and then the lights will go out. Either that or be in a plane crash, 'cause I'd really like to jump up just before we hit. Just once.

We all gotta go some day.. Oh well.

I just hope I go before my wife or kids... It may be selfish, but I can't imagine going on without them.

My father always said he wanted to go like a house fire not like a rusting car. He died on vacation while visiting the baseball hall of fame...he not only got to go like a house fire but, as probably the biggest baseball fan in the world, he got to go in the one of his favorite places.

I dont worry much about death. It's bound to happen and I just hope it is fast when it comes. I'd rather have a quality life than a long one if I cant get both.

I also hope that I go out doing something great....but I'll probably end up dead from choking on a cheese doodle, or something like that. LOL:triage:

I have thought the opposite, then I thought what you thought, now, I just don't think and let things run their course. In the end it won't matter either way.

We're all gonna die someday and everything we've done here will be wiped away completely as though we never existed in the first place.

I'm sure in the future scientists/ theorists will determine that we don't even exist at all. LOL!

I have learned over the years not to spend time thinking about it. Why waste the time? Nothing I can do to change or prevent it.

death really doesn't scare me at all. this might sound weird but i think it would be an exciting experience. i would just hope that i have my family near by, that i would be remembered for something great, and that i can know when i have 5 minutes left to live so i can have one last drink of good Irish whiskey before i go to see god.

Some may or may not have noticed that I have not been on here as much as I was for the last little while.

Since my incident while bear hunting I have been going through a bunch of issues. Last Friday was a bit of climax. I went into the doctor for a check up and was rushed to the emergency room by ambulance. Apparently she did not like my heart beating at 248 bpm.

Since then I have been dealing with adjustments in medication and it seems that it is under control. However in the last week, I have had several attacks that literally made me look death in the eyes. What I realized is that I could care less how I go and that if I was to go today, I would be good with it.

Nothing wrong with dyin if you lived a good one I think. I have a deep seeded faith that their is a great place to go if you have done that. On the other hand, there is also that bad place.

Regardless of religion, there is the constant of consequence. I am a firm believer in that.

its not death that i have any trepidation over- its not living that scares me.
when i was in the height of my rodeo/mma career i was always asked about being injured or killed or lack of pension when i was old, my answer was about 2 men sitting on a prch in the twilight of thier lives-the two me's on was ablebodied but had not lived only focused on a career, the other was the one who always said i would rather be crippled and have my memories, as i grew older i have been able to now accomplish both

Nothing wrong with dyin if you lived a good one I think. I have a deep seeded faith that their is a great place to go if you have done that. On the other hand, there is also that bad place.

My ticket to Heaven was bought and paid for by the blood of Jesus. That is a good thing too because the way I lived this life couldn't get me into a free dog and pony show.

The way I see it, it is all in Gods hands and He is in control.

I am resolute in my mortality. I know it's coming, I just don't know when. If it becomes necessary, I will lay down my life. It's the idea (like WE pointed out) of not living that I can't bring myself to terms with. I'd rather be broke and full of enjoyment, than old, and too crippled to enjoy any of the money I worked my whole life to save up.
The ultimate end will come for us all.. will you be a sparkler, or a roman candle? To give ones life defending what's right and good is the ultimate honor. Thank the next serviceman you see. They have the mindset of coming to terms with mortality, much moreso than any of us civvy types.

The old man I did the last job for: the weekend before I started, his BIL took off his oxygen to go to the bathroom, had it off too long, and passed out (nearly died), then the weekend after I finished the job, his daughter died and 2 days later his SIL died. Which one would I rather be?.. not the one in the nursing home, I can tell you that. You'd have to have heard some of the stories about the other two, to realize they had exciting lives, compared to the "old baby". Did they abuse their bodies? Very likely yes. Did they want to live longer? probably so. But I'd be willing to bet, that if you could ask them right now, they'd say the same thing.. I'd rather not be so old I can't take care of myself anymore, and I wouldn't go back and change a single thing.
Mundane, or Whizbang? Which one is your life, and if you had to give it today, would you be able to come to terms mentally, to be able to?
Seems to me that those who take time to "enjoy" life are more resolute in it's end, than those who've spent their entire lives as career-people, building, building, building, as if a pyramid for the pharoah, only to realize one day they are too old to do anything with it anymore.
I say go out there, and LIVE NOW, You never know which day will be your last, and if you keep saving for a rainy day, don't forget your umbrella!

I choose not to worry about death too much, living is hard enough, to do well, that what I strive for, for my self and others around me.

When the time comes, I gotta believe the phrase, "Aaaah S*****T" has to be involved somehow............

Sorry Tsitenha, when you are in real pain the only focus you have is the pain and the only thing you think about is ending it, in any manner possible. Death and relief is your focus, not the life you had. Been there and done that.

I have been clinically dead twice. No bells or whistles involved. I guess the Big Guy wants me fully engulfed before he tells me what is up.

A good life? That is up to the view of each individual. Everyone values their experiences and accomplishments differently.

My own life experience has been crap, and I will not miss it at all. Another might look at my journey and envy my good fortune.

My own belief system tells me that the transition to death will be an improvement over what I have had in life. I have faith that will be true and that my X-wife is not there.

If she is the first thing I see guess what?:devil2:

Being half cherokee indian I have a sort of different slant on life and death. I believe that I/we have all been here before is some form or another, we lived our life, died, crossed over and rested a while and then came back in a higher form, going on with the cycle until we became what we are now. So when we die we will be able to go on to a better plane and have nothing ro fear from it, While I am in no rush to die I don't fear doing so.
