"Can't means won't!"

I'm not sure exactly what it means but everytime I see it I ponder the possibilities. I even google'd it!

I hereby call out Crashdive123 to tell us what it means to him.

If you say you can't start your own business, you won't.
If you say you can't lose weight, you won't.
If you say you can't learn, you won't.

So, when somebody says "I can't do that", what I hear is "I won't do that". It's not always a bad thing though. For example - I can't wear that thong that has been the subject of much angst on this forum ----- believe me when I say --- that is a good thing.

My version of Crash's little saying is "Can't Never could".... Still the same thing though. If you say you can't do something you have defeated yourself before you even allow yourself to try...

However if you qualify "Can't", with something it is a slightly different story...
I. E. I can't start a business, BECAUSE I don't have a (Building, piece of equipment,etc...) You are qualifying it saying it is NOT impossible... only Temporarily delayed(UNTIL you get the building, piece of Equipment, etc.)

Down here we say it like Poco. "Can't never could". It's all about self motivation. The polar opposite would be Homer Simpson's famous quote, "Never try, never fail".

At least where I come from, You did (still do) what had to be done. No time to whine, or cry, or complain about being tired, or dirty. No time to argue and debate your ability or why you think you can't do something. When it's time to get it.. you gotta get it!

Now, of course there are physical limitations.. for example, I can't pick up a freight train with one hand (nor two haha). That's not what it's about. It's all about not admitting defeat until you have given it all you've got. Somewhere out there is a trainyard with some sort of lift and all you really have to do is push a button.. That guy can lift a train with one finger... go figure.

If you want to accomplish something, you will.
