Todays hike.

Well we made it back unscathed from our hike earlier today and for those that had asked I took some pictures. The hike wasn't very difficult as we had our toddler along. It was about 4 hours in total including a little stop at the end for lunch and went along a well known trail in Gatineau park to an old mill and waterfall around Meech Lake (most Canadians will recognize this name)

I also got about pictures of 30 different plants that I'm going to be trying to identify over the next little bit.

Great pics. That looks like a neat place. I see the boss was leading the way. One thing you can do with him is let him carry a pack as well if he wants to. You can put any light items in it he wants like his favorite toy and some snacks. Little folks like to know they are helping the team, too. Just keep it really light weight so he doesn't tire out.

He has on occasion but he tends to get tired of carrying things. He has his own walking stick and bottle of water/diluted juice but until he can carry those things for the whole trip we probably won't give him anything else. By the end of it it was getting to be a little bit of a struggle to keep him moving but we managed. He's going to be 3 in a few months and by next spring we will start giving him some more responsibility.

Its funny because he has been walking since 15 months and we don't take a stroller anywhere - ever. Most people are just flabbergasted to see him walking/running up the trails and talking a mile a minute in 2 languages. He's a great little guy.
