Personally, I think anyone who commits suicide by whatever means is kind of nuts, trying to take other people with them is selfish and nuts, but then how many drunk drivers are there out on the highways on any given night?


Sanity/insanity aren't even real medical terms for mental illness, they're legal terms, and they're debatable at the best of times (Obviously, this jacka$$'s actions don't make this the best of times, but.....)

My quick read is that he is a guy who was trying to "game" the system ("Some friends introduced me to a group of people who were having ‘tax code’ readings and discussions. In particular, zeroed in on a section relating to the wonderful “exemptions” ) And things got out of control. When you "tweak" the tiger and then don't lay off, you have to expect to be bitten. Having said that, I can not say I disagree with some of what he says. But his chosen method for his final protest is nothing but cowardice on his part and is not worthy of my respect or sympathy.

OK, now I've seen a couple of comments that tweak my interest. One of my original questions after JustinC posted the link was, is his manifesto insane? I agree that what he did was cowardly and if he really wanted to make a statement by taking himself out he could have waited until the building was closed for the night, at least substantially reducing the risk to others. IRS employees pay taxes too, dammit. But.....what about his b*tch sheet manifesto against the IRS? I find it intriguing that the media organization that ran the article, with the link, immediately labeled the manifesto "insane" That's editorializing, not news reporting.

No, I dont think his Note was insane at all, In fact , I thought he explained his feelings very well and did so in a very Detailed way,, His note left No one wondering what led him to make his final decision, But he Made the WRONG decision,, one part of it i do not understand though was where he said he was sitting on tons of unreported money, or something to that effect,,, But the rest of his note made sense to me,, ? Not defending him Bee, just commenting on the media's propensity to label things without having done their research. This guy broke the law. Now we can agree or disagree with the laws that were broken. I certainly believe that the burdensome nature of many of our laws sucks. We can choose to follow them, break them, or change them - the choice is ours, as are the consequences. He was just upset with the consequences. While it may prove true that he was insane, and most assuredly disturbed, the media seems to like to put things in a neat little package of their choosing for reporting.

My comments were not based on a right, left, or in between slant that some media outlets have, but rather the lack of journalistic integrity - from all sides.

Kind of like the Golf Writers Association and their little boycott of the Tiger Woods thing this morning. This group, standing on journalistic integrity, and making a pretty big deal of it - did not participate and fill the three positions that were allocated to them. On the surface it sounds pretty good to many. To me it is laughable. Where the heck were those journalistic standards when they failed to report the philandering of a sports figure that was common knowledge among the circles they rode in? I guess they feared that access would have been cut off. Kind of hypocritical in my view to now bemoan the fact that they are not being allowed to do their job - that same job that they refused to do for so many years.
