Default I bought everything Alone was filmed with $5,202.92 YouTube channel upgrade

I went on a shopping spree and spent $ 5,202.92 on a YouTube channel upgrade. I got it all, the expensive canon camera, wireless mic, Dji Marvin drone and much more. $5,202 worth of new camera equipment. And a lot of the stuff i got was the same stuff i used in Patagonia to film the History channels hit show Alone season 3 on. Now that its almost all hear i can really state making a major production. Or at least thats the plan now i have to figure out how to use all this stuff. For the most part it is all stuff i used like i said on Alone but i have never had to deal with editing and settings much for the cameras. Im learning that just leaving the camera rolling my get me the perfect shot but means i spend a thousand years longer when i comes to the editing. New software is grate (final cut pro X) but it means I have almost had to learn it all from the ground up again. The Dji mavric drone has definitely been the most fun to play with it is really easily to use once you get past the software loading hassle. I have been trying for days to get the sunset with it but between distractions and dead batteries I haven't accomplished that yet. I want a really nice shot of flying Close to the yurt and up and over the trees and capture the sunset I'll get it one of these days.

What do you film with and edit with?

I film with Canon eos 550D , I want to upgrade to a dslr which has a flip screen because it is really pain the the but sometimes focusing without it , but I doubt that will be any day soon.
I like to keep it simple and I use windows movie maker to edit my footage , missing a few features which I would like to have but still very easy to edit.

I enjoyed the show. I haven't heard "hit show" in a while. Maybe it's coming back. I knew I should have kept that leisure suit!

Doing real good, looking forward to Spring. My health has been good for a while now, I've made some plans to get out and about this Summer. I already have some training courses locked on, working on other programs as we speak.

I hope all is well for you, be safe out there. Phil

Right now I have a canon powershot, and a canon T2i DSLR. I plan to get a gopro. My wife plans to upgrade the T2i to a 5D. Of course, she actually does professional photography, and gets paid for it. She uses photoshop for the stills. She doesn't make movies. I use Microsoft windows movie maker. If is a free program. I would say start there, and then look for a better program, once you know what you want to do. I also use audacity for the audio parts.

Zachary Fowler - "What do you film with and edit with?"

I'm currently using a Cannon Vixia HF R600 for filming training videos. When the weather is rough though I shoot some of the videos with a little Sony action-cam.

I use Adobe Premiere for video and some sound editing, otherwise for audio I use Audacity.

I have a Zoom H4n audio recorder that I use regularly.

Sounds like you have a great collection of gear! I'm jealous of the DJI Mavik, thats an excellent drone to work with.

As far as video editing goes, it depends on how much you want to spend and which computer OS you prefer. If you are a Windows guy then I say try Avidemux, ZS4 or Lightworks.
If you are a Mac guy then the iMovie software is actually pretty good.

Or like PVG said, Adobe Premier, works with both Windows and Mac and is about as good as it gets, but its not free.
Personally I'd avoid windows movie maker, its pretty limited in its use. Works for quick home videos but is not flexible.

    Good luck and have fun!
There ain't too many problems you can't fix with $500 or a 30-06.

Him-"Whats the best knife for survival?"
Me-"the one that's in your pocket."
Him-"I don't have one in my pocket."
    Me-"Exactly."

I saw your video on your equipment, really nice Gear...
I used to use movie maker also, Lightworks is good.. but now I am using hit-film express 4 (very good) so yeah those are options.
Otherwise Sony vegas is probably the better route.
