Default Greetings from Illinois / Missouri

    Good afternoon Ladies and Gentlemen,

First I would like to express how excited I am to be a member of this website. I look forward to connecting with like-minded people and hopefully being able to take part in conversations.

    -I am 30 years old.
-Married, with a baby on the way.
-Live in a small town in Illinois, about 30 miles east of Saint Louis.
-Currently, I am a Private Investigator and a Search and Rescue team member.
-I am interested in anything that involves primitive living and wilderness survival.

    My relevant experience is:
-Primitive camping for the last 10 years
    -Eagle Scout
-Marine Corps Infantryman for 6 years
    -HRST Master Course
    -Combat Hunters Course
    -(2) civilian man tracking courses
-Several excursions aimed toward wilderness survival and primitive living
    -NASAR 1 Certified

    My main weaknesses are:
-Wild Edibles (I can identify very few in my usual environment).
-Winter Camping (I would like to do more of it without the luxury of a wall tent and a wood burning stove).

I hope this introduction was satisfactory and I can’t wait to start reading some threads!

    Brandon

    Welcome from Alaska, great intro!
There ain't too many problems you can't fix with $500 or a 30-06.

Him-"Whats the best knife for survival?"
Me-"the one that's in your pocket."
Him-"I don't have one in my pocket."
    Me-"Exactly."

    Brandon,
Welcome to the Forum. Thank you for your service. Glad to hear that you are a Scout. Lots of Scouts and Scouters here. Congratulations on your upcoming family addition. Thank you for taking the time to post a "real" intro. When you say "Primitive camping" are you talkin' rondevoo camping"? Fur Trade? Woods Runner? Long Hunter? Rocky Mountain trapper? Does your wife/family camp with you? Again Thank you for serving.

I would most closely associate it with rendezvous type camping. I don't really have period correct clothing yet, just some stuff I have made out of deer hides. I pretty much go into the woods with the most basic of items, flint and steel, ground cloth, trade blanket, and some food. My wife does everything with me for the most part, except for the very last time which was a week ago.
