I learned something this morning, DO NOT PUT PETROLEUM JELLY IN A MICRO TO WARM IT!!!!!!! . after 23 seconds the micro starts shooting sparks and making zap zot zip noises.
how ever the convection oven works just fine.

Oh it was your microwave shooting the sparks and not the pj! Last week I turned on a a dvd player and it started crackling and popping and then it caught on fire... I watched the movie in a different room.

Was it a new jar? The seal might have had a foil lining in it. Metal will do that but I've never heard of petroleum jelly or any other jelly doing it. Look closely at the container. Something metal was in that microwave.

I checked that right off nothing on in or near the container, So I took a cup of water and stuck it in the micro minute later hot water, so I tried it with the PJ again same thing, sparks zap zip zot.
I have a spare smaller micro out in the barn I am going to get it out hookit up and see what happens with that one.

Just a note here --- you do not need to heat or liquify your petrolium jelly to make cotton ball/pj tinder.
I know that I was just experimenting.

Your not supposed to heat the PJ in a stainless steel bowl, if you using a microwave to heat it!

try putting some PJ in a ceramic bowl and see what it does.

I Got the other micro out but it isnt usable , the door is broken off.
So i will try putting some in a glass bowl (as soon as my sweet wife is out of range).

If that doesn't work, try this; Smear a big glob in your left armpit, wave your right hand in the air, hop around your house twice....on your right foot...and chant "it will work", while you are doing all the above.So i will try putting some in a glass bowl (as soon as my sweet wife is out of range).
