Cycling to work

I am lucky that I live 3 miles from work.So for the last few weeks I have been riding my bike.I really dont know why I started other than I like to ride.And now I dont have to loose any time with the family to do so.

My comute to work is pretty straight foreward.I go down a hill (Rt 6) cross a nasty intersection (Faunce Corner Rd) and then its back up hill untill I get to work.(I am thining that one of these days I may need Kens services while I'm crossing Faunce Corner.But thats for another day.)

The ride home at night is great.I usually have the roads to myself and enjoy its quietness.Just me and the road.Oh and the ocasional attack rabbit.

I do hope you have a helmet. My wife and I cycled a lot in our younger days. You can take a nasty spill when you least expect it. My helmet save me a time or two.

Otherwise, enjoy a great sport. It's healthy, it's pro environment and it doesn't cost anything to operate (other than food).

That's a pretty steep and long hill. In both directions. If it was me, I'd just go by Faunce Corner Road and peddle a little further 'till I got to Big Boar or Joe's Used Cycles. Some nice Harleys at both places.

I envy you that. My commute is 48 miles one way. If I was to bike it, I would never be home

Rick, I always wear a brain bucket.I have a friend that didnt wear one once.After working on his bike he took it for a test ride.Well he hit sand at the end of the driveway and went down.The doc's had to drill his skull to relieve pressure.And he spent the better part of 3 weeks in a coma..Scarry scarry scarry...The kids in my neighborhood dont like me too much because I yell at them to put on a helmet.


Ken, I think I would kill myself on a motor bike...I'm trying to reach the speed limit down the short steep section of my ride into work.Almost there.The top of the hill is 50mph,the bottom it's 40mph.So far I have hit the bottom at 38.I'm sure if I swapped the pedals form the MTB to the road bike I could do it.
