Default Hedonism.....and my wasted life, or I'll be an ADULT Later, Thank-you

Today at 6:45 AM I found my self walking the coastal trail looking for Big fuzzy brown things. It was perfect, but for that voice that kept saying, "Your wasting your life hiking, when you should be building a new cabin".
Once a month I make a list called: "WHAT MATTERS MOST". Yes, it changes a bit over time, but always Hiking and Exploring are number one.

I have decided to write my Obituary: "A life well Wasted", (the Hedonist guide to the simple pleasure of, a rifle in hand, and an unexplored trail).

You need an agent. Call me. I'm signing up Jason even as I type this.

I can think of many, MANY was of wasting a life much worse than that. Trying to sign up writers would probably be right at the top. Top 100, anyway.

Hope - just think of what a wasted life it would be if you never took that first hike.

Or if after completing my apprenticeship, I had stayed in Rochester, N.Y. and worked 40 years for Farrel Corporation.

I don't see anything wasted with what you're doing with your life Hope.
some fella confronted me the other day and asked "What's your problem?" So I told him, "I don't have a problem I am a problem"

From this side of 50, I think doing what you want to and enjoy is the way to go. Sure being a little warmer in winter may be nice, but you would miss a bunch of stuff on your hikes. Just stay away fom that Ken fellow, I think him may want to make you a motion picture star

True. But not when you recognize pure genius. Both of them.

I may regret saying this, but listen to Trax, too.

And you don't think that could happen? This would be a REAL reality show. Folks could actually LEARN something watching TV for a change. Here's a lovable character - well, a character with a lovable dog, anyway. Even without an outhouse door, this could score great ratings. Just keep the camaras away from the outhouse when it's occupied.

Ken you may be right. Hope seems to have a knack for keeping the yellow side up on the equipment. But may be just too REAL!!! But I do envision that door being an issue that would have to be dealt with

Hope, I think many of us would choose to be in your shoes and able to live as you do. Currently working toward that goal myself. Soon, but not this year. Enjoy your hikes, cause I surely do enjoy hearing the tantalizing tidbits.....

I don't feel I am wasting my life. But, I do often feel I am not reaching my potential, and I am lazy, look like a troll and smell of sour cream and failure

The only people who feel that they've reached their potential haven't set their goals high enough.

I LOVE the smell of sour cream in the morning. It smells like ... sour cream.

I can feelt the same way sometimes, I am taking a walk in the woods when I could be building a chair or doing something meaningful. I think you have lived a good life though , Hopeak. It is my dream to raise animals in the Alaskan wilderness in a cabin I built by myself.
