Thread: A trade offer I was made today.

Default A trade offer I was made today.

I was asked how much I would charge to weld up a loading gate for a landscape trailer .
I would be suppling material and labor. since the material is left overs and no cost out of my pocket, I told him 250.00 cash which is about 15.00 per hour half of what anyone else around charges. he is offering me a hi point 9mm 100 rounds of ammo and a box of 9mm brass approx 500 brass. I don't think its worth it as far as what the hi point is worth, What do you all think.

Not a handgun expert by any stretch, but I've heard those hi-points are crap.
some fella confronted me the other day and asked "What's your problem?" So I told him, "I don't have a problem I am a problem"

As far as the Hi Point, you can get them very cheap. The ammo - no biggy. The brass - do you reload? Unless that's stuff that you're in the market for, probably not a great deal. Buuuut - now that you know he is willing to part with firearms in barter, find out what else he has that you may be interested in.

I know hi point is bottom of the barrel thats one reason i didn't jump on his offer, second is I am not a fan of 9mm , third I don't reload.
And I did not think to ask him what else he had for trade good idea thanks.

I've ran about 50 rounds through my dads hi-point. Nice little gun, i really like the sight picture. Kicks like a dadgum' mule though. The thing is you can always use another gun or four or five....

The last gun show I attended they had a NIB Hi-point 9mm for $100 OTD.

At the end of the two day show it was still there.

BTW here is an update, I explained I really don't need a pistol like that but i would be interested in trading if he had anything else, well he said he didn't so i told him tell ya what you keep the brass and give me 125 cash the pistol and any live ammo you have and Its a deal he said he would think about it.

Until the cheap piece o' crap fails on you in a critical moment...Then you could probably have done without that $100 handgun.

The brass could have been good for a barter/trade item down the road, some are finding it hard to come by,so it could be a premium item for reloaders?

That brass could have been reloaded several times, gun is junk and he is trying to take advantage of you. He knows what he has so charge him the regular rate that generally
breaks them from sucking eggs. That would be my best offer and at my convenience.

se if he would go for a tank of oxygen and acetylene and a chop saw blade, then you could have a deal.

    It might be stolen property!
    1. If it's in your kit and you don't know how to use it....It's useless.
    2. If you can't reach your kit when you need it....Its useless.

There's nothing wrong with cheap. Now cheaply crafted and manufactured on the other hand....
