This just fascinates me. Most of us probably can’t see an eagle taking down an adult deer, but that doesn’t really mater, what maters is can an eagle see himself taking down a deer.
![]() ![]() The berkut is a type of Golden Eagle used to hunt deer and wolves by the Kirghiz people. Extreme falconry! Eagles perception of who’s where on the food chain. Amazing photos http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-GoEalfyMqM |

I've seen the video of that before, and it's very impressive. I think your response to it is even more so, "the eagle can see himself taking down the deer"

I have always wanted to be a falconer. When i lived at home I wasn't allowed, now i just can't afford it. It's still an interest of mine though. If I had a choice of what kind of bird to have it would be the Harris Hawk, they are the only hawk that hunts in packs like wolves.

Those birds are huge! any idea of the size weight they are/ Must be like a freight trian hitting those animals from the sky.

That was amazing, though that is one gigantic bird.

Just found this thread and that was cool as heck, maybe the golden eagle should climb to the top of the predator list above wolves and foxes. Falconry has always been interesting to me.

The Eagle (Golden and Bald) is the number one predator of young Dall Sheep and Mountain Goat.

I'd like to see a golden eagle take on a full grown alpha male timber wolf, Traxx!!!!!!! Here boy. I bet they hook those big azz claws on the spinal cord and crrrrrrrrrrrrrrrruch, or at least paralizing them some. Don't know much about falconry or predatory birds. Do know young Navajo indians dug eagle pits and sat in them, when the eagle came to coverd pit to get the bait they grabbed the leg and took a feather.

Yep, I knew that. One time I was out in a canoe with my partner (this guy was raised in the bush, taught traditional hunting and trapping since he was a wee child) and a bald eagle flew overhead, there were three otters that we'd been teasing swimming along by the canoe and I asked him why that eagle didn't try to snag one of the otters. He said the otters would have grabbed him and drowned him. I guess eagles know their business too, bro.
By the way, folks, if you ever get the chance, otters are great fun to tease. They get mad and yammer at you if you splash water at them with your canoe paddle.

Didn't know you could get warries by the case, is it cheaper than getting them one at a time?

Cheaper but harder to carry. For that you need a cassowary carry.
