Reality-TV...or the art of paying attention.

Reality-TV, coupled with the introduction of all sorts of bodily enhancements to the new generations...such as piercing for example, prepares us to the introduction in our lives of the concepts of biometrics and the famous chip implants.

The chip is already on the market for pets, but is also used in spain for example at private clubs, where for 150 euros, a chip is placed under the skin to monitor memberships, and take care of any monetary transactions within the club.
The chip, as it already is in those private clubs, will become the only available and valid method of payment, rendering its place in our lives an unavoidable necessity.
Drivers licenses, bank cards, credit cards, medical history, biometrics, memberships...everything we will need to function will be directly connected to the chip.
Let's not forget also, that every chip will have a GPS.

Reality-TV is a formidable monitoring desensitizing tool...where we become each day a little more familiar with cameras...where cameras themselves even become a possibility, a means, to limitless success...and therefore the idea of better chances of survival within the herd.
Technology works that way...the last gizmo is now perceived by the herd as a must have, or in other words...having better chances for survival.
My dog is chipped. It's not a GPS. It's so that if he gets free and gets picked up by the pound they can run a scanner over him and know who to return him to. It's a great idea. About $65 to get the animal chipped and $18 to AVID to have the information updated. He was a rescue, so he was chipped when I got him. I would have done it anyway.

With people, I'm not saying it won't happen, but it will take a LONG time before the "herd" is comfortable with the idea of being chipped. The company that's doing that sells the kits to implant the chips for about $2000. The club holds a "chipping party", typically, and each club kid that wants to be on a speedpass pays $125 to get chipped. It's only for the extremely trendy at the moment. The company that makes them has their top executives chipped for acess to some areas of the company. But the technology to safely implant an RFID of the type that could be picked up by a satelite and used as a GPS tracker is still a few years off.

Besides, they can't really remove those chips, and that's a problem for most people. Once the chip is in, it "moves" and grows into the muscle. Lots of scarring to get it taken out, and that's something the "herd" won't stand for.

I don't know that this is a must have to all of us. I have a problem with Big Brother[ pun intended] knowing what I am doing and where I go at all times, the same for monitoring transactions. I do not have a credit card or bank account, my wife dose so it is kind of a non issue now. have not put anything in my name in years , again a non issue with everything in the wifes name now.

Tha fact that folks so willingly give so much of thier information to the goverment and allow it to be put into other data banks speaks to the sucess of the indoctranation programs that start now at the grade school level and continue through life.

Call it the mark of the beast, big brother or any other term when we allow any organization to have this much information on usewe are giveing them control over us.

Gotta go now and be fitted for my tin foil hat.

Okay, remy. That was just a bit over the top for me. I'm just not smart enough to be desensitized by a mindless TV show. Don't you have to have an IQ above 26 for that to happen? See? That leaves me out.

    Here's another post on it:

Beerrunner, I assume you have a driver's license, social security card, W4 on file? What's the difference?

Oh I agree...nothing beats all things "pure wilderness". It's just parts of this thread reminded me of some very interesting conversations back in the day.

A few months ago there was an advertisement in my local paper for getting your kids chipped just in case they get kidnapped cost was mid 200 for basic models (medical records, home addies and such) and upper 300 for the gps model. Guess it flopped cause havent seen it since

I know I have a quart or two of "liquid lightening" around somewhere. It should clear my head and maybe I could understand what you're talking about.

IMHO that was a scam. Periodically I go back and investigate what's out there. I've been looking for quite some time for something like this, but not an implant. What I want is the chips themselves, so I can implant them in her shoes, and maybe a bracelet or something. I figure if she's wearing two or three, she may retain the articles their implanted in long enough to be tracked in the case of an abduction. I'm not worried about law enforcement moving quickly enough to do it...My wife can handle dealing with the cops (like she would stay behind) in that situation, as I have mobile internet in my ride and would have no qualms about going to retrieve my kid myself. However, about all you can find is those "kid phones" that do GPS (like all cell phones) and have preprogrammed numbers the kid can dial in an emergency. There was a mention of a watch a while back, but it was like $700 and very big and bulky. very obvious what it was. Again, the GPS technology just isn't here yet for an implant chip that does GPS. I guess they could do it, but your kid would look like it had a tumor growing out of his/her arm. If you find the article in the paper again, I'd love to see it. Or you if you could tell me which paper it was in I will research it and find it. If it's real, I'd love to see the tech. Otherwise, I'm sure the authorities would love to see the ad.

I think there are some possible useful applications for implanted chips that I discussed in the RFID thread I referenced in post #4 above.
