    Default Snowshoes?

I was wondering if anybody out there knows of any sites/books that are avaiable for the making off snowshoes? I have found a couple of older books at the local libary, but can not find any sites on line with any instructions on this. Thanks in advance....

Riverrat, type in snowshoe making. There were a lot of responses, I chose this one to because it comes with video and I know the people of Stanley Mission and the ones I know know their stuff:

Take the share off the end of your html post and it should work. Then I'll delete this one.

Trax - That was an excellent link. I've never done anything with snowshoes and watched the four videos. Quite an art form. Very informative page. Thanks!

Yeah, nothing wrong with Trax, he doesn't repeat himself, repeat himself...I thought it never posted and clicked again...my bad.

Snowshoeing is great by the way, I'd recommend it to anyone.

Here's a pair of Faber traditional snowshoes like I have. $165.00 and a 10 year warranty, got the about a year ago. Faber makes great snowshoes IMHO and the weight is up to 300 lbs.

There is no greater solitude than that of the Tracker in the forest, unless perhaps it's that of the wolf in the wilderness.

WOW a man has got to know his limits. I could never even use 30 pound snowshoes. 300 is that the weight of both.

Why don't you "Make Things" guys play around with plywood. You might invent a better and cheaper Snowshoe. You could even use the crosscounty ski bindings, or make your own binding out of leather. What would be funny would be to cut the plywood the shape of a giant Sasquach foot print, or monster Bear print. you would need to wax the bottom of the plywood to keep snow from sticking.

Picture two men with high powered rifles who have been following m "sasquatch" prints in the snow....

"There he is about 75 yards out on the lake...I can take him from here"

"Son of a gun...who'da thought he wears a red parka? Guess ya just never know. What you usin' there Billy-Bob?"

"The 30-06 with 180 grain soft points, that oughta leave an impression"

Cross hairs zeroing in on the center of my back....

    No thanks hopeak.

You'all got people named Billy-Bob there. Some how I thought real men would have names like Frenchi'e, Hatchet'jack, or Twinkie'rick.

Best binding's are made out of inner tube. They work great. Hold tight and don't get slack. Thanks for the links....and the laughs...

N0---No Billy-Bob's, I was taking literary license. More "Frenchie's" than I can count. (Alors! whatever the heck that means) We had a couple of Hatchetjack's, one changed his name to PinkingShearsJack, that's a gruesome story that I'm not going to tell, but Tony might like it. We did have one Twinkie'rick, but I think he wound up being used as wolverine bait.

Well, Wolverines gott'a eat. I wonder how they got that Twinkie smell off of themselves.
I saw 5 wolverines inside a boned out moose carcuss. They had pushed a mid-size grizzly off. Like I say, "Ya' gotta know your limits". And he must have learned his.

The only Wolverine around these parts is eatin' crow since Wolverine Jr. showed up.
