Backoff on lead ban

The EPA drew more fire than they had anticipated in their end run around the second ammendment.

Someone finally pointed out that they can not restrict items that are subject to excise tax without congressional approval.

This admin is really out of control.

Kudos to the NRA for speaking up. (That's why we pay them, right?)

And, I guess, a **cough** kudos is in order for the **cough**/**barf** EPA as well.

NRA did a great job. But individual voices count, too. I'm sure the ammo lobby was twisting some arms in Washington as well.

The NSSF/NRA and a couple of the angler societies were having an massive E-mail/text message campain that swamped the EPA system for two weeks.

The fishermen are in on this one too. The ban included fishing sinkers and lures! It is the first time the fishermen have ever been hit with a situation like this. They are not covered by second ammendment protection and are still fighting the ban alone.

We still need to be vigilant on this and other issues. I'll bet the heaviest pressure on the EPA came from political types that, during a tough election cycle, they don't want any more "spot lights" thrown their way. Come January, this may surface again.

It will surface again before Janurary. It will reappear right after the liberals loose control of congress in the Nov election. They will have the space from Nov-Jan to wreck as much havoc as a one party facist government can manage.

Yes, basically it is. The quiet "Republicans" you find are what we term RINOS (republicans in name only). They are liberals that have infiltrated the party for the campain funds or because they lost to another Democrat in the primary, or are jumping ship for survival.

The Republican platform stands for individual rights as specified by the constitution. The fact that the party will allow nonbelievers to run on their banner is a great cause for concern at this point in time.

It is one reason that the new popular conservitive movements have refused to line up with either party.

Hopefully the WMAs from over the nation will appeal to the powers on high. Fishing is a big revenue source for them.

I suspect that the entire issue will be droped.

I had already decided I was moving to zink as my shooting metal. Pennys would give us an unlimited source and with lead already at 50 cents a pound it is not really a lot more expensive.

5 pennys for a .38
