Default "BOOTS in the FIELD" AWARD will be announced with-in 90 days.

The winner of the First Annual "BOOTS in The FIELD Award" will be announced some time in the next 90 days. I will pick the first winner, and hopefully I can get the three Super Moderators to choose all future annual winners.

I have no idea what if anything they will get. They may just get a public thank you for their "Boots in The Field" contributions to the Forum.

That works for me, we can just pass the hat for collections. I can't afford that gift on my $628.00 per month S.S. but they can sure sleep in my grain barn, on the straw.

You sure took on a challenge. What's the criteria for the winner?

Quality first hand actual field event and the documentation and reporting of said field event. It could be someone's field trip, or someone's first hand creating or building something. The person has to have done it.

Examples are: Blue Tarp Amy's Lost in Alaska for 11 days. Another would be Mac's field trips with his students, or just a friend. It could also include many of Crash's threads on knife building. Or Alaskan Survivalist thread on basic pole structures. It could be someones garden thread or a tutorial on raising chickens or goat or monkeys.
I remember a good thread several years ago where someone went out on snowshoes into the wilderness, built a debris shelter, and spent the night. I want to encourage people to "Just Do'it" and report on what worked and what failed to work.

I guess I should start Begging or requesting any pledges or gifts of outdoor tools that we can give the winner of the "Boots in The Field" Award.

Okay. I'll pony up a Mora HighQ Allround knife for you. What else you need?

If someone else wants to toss in a handmade knife or something that's fine. I'll donate something else. I'm just trying to get the ball rolling and a knife is a good basic item.

Thank you Rick and Crash.........if we get enough stuff or money, we can have two or three winners.

I just want to improve the number of informative essays on this forum. And bribe members to get out and practice.

Bribery is always good. I'll toss in some paracord and a fire starter if Crash wants to do the knife. I'll see what else I have.

I had a compass, but without a map, it's just a cool toy to show you where oceans and ice are.
