My new bush pipe / corncob pipe made with a corncob ( duh) pine pitch and bamboo , I made the hole by burning it in with coals, I had the ash powder ready to mix with pine pitch but forgot it will it have problems ? or should I remove it remelt it and do it again with ashes ?

Most corn cob pipes I have had used or seen....the stem is just held in the hole by friction....(?)
But then again I never "Made" one....

I have made plenty of them.
Just use the pocket knife to ream a hole slightly undersized for the stem and friction holds it in.
I can not imagine what the tobacco must taste like when the heat hits that pine sap!
They usually burn out real quickly.
If you didn't bring jerky what did I just eat?
Cool hehe. Yeah also made a couple bush pipes.
I prefer using bamboo for the stem of pipe and carve the bowl. Made one huge wizard pipe once..
Walked around like gandalf that whole Weekend, tried aquiring longbottom leaf (halfling leaf) and at that point when you running around asking for shire folk people look at you crazy. Hahaha

You must cut the stem at a shallow angle and make sure it extends all the way across the hollow part of the cob.
That helps stop the burnout through the bottom.

Actually,, I thought you had to plug the bottom with something,... or it would just burn thru real fast....though I had heard of smooth wet clay....dird when lit?

First, cut a dried corncob to the desired bowl length, approximately 1 3/4 inches. Smooth off the outside. Bore out the soft inside until your thumb fits in it. Taper the bottom base and make a wooden plug to fit the taper. Then cut a hole about one-half inch in diameter through the wall of the cob near the base, tapering the hole inward.

I cut the stem on shallow angle so there is very little left the tobacco to burn out , I was just wondering is the bamboo good or this job ?

this is cool. reminds me of a story from a book called narratives of a trapping life. A trapper called sandy rolled his canoe and saved a few things. He still had tobacco so he carved out a pipe and dried the tobacco. He added a few native plants to the baccer in order to stretch it out. Made a raft and floated out, came across some indians and the first thing he asked was " ye have any tobacco?". lol
so the definition of a criminal is someone who breaks the law and you want me to believe that somehow more laws make less criminals?
