Young man(or woman) if I could instill just one piece of knowledge into you it would be this.

Always be prepared to prevent hypothermia!

It will attack you when you are least prepared to deal with it,and when you think you are least vulnerable to it.
Like it did me on a warm Memorial Day weekend here in the midwest.

but honestly, stay calm and think before acting.

that first bit was a joke.
i guess i should have thrown an "lol" in there because it made the list in the first post.

    made me laugh though.

Develope mental toughness. Never quit, never give up, never surrender. Refuse to allow yourself to accept that any situation is hopeless.

Don't worry, relax, and think about what you are going to do next.

Be adaptable, things happen that cannot be anticipated so be able to adapt to whatever comes up.

    1. Know how to use every thing in your kit. If you don't know how to use it, it is useless.

    2. Keep your kit on you at all times. If you can't reach your kit when you need it, it is useless.

sjj, There is no such thing as a thread that doesn't have some banter in it.

The decisions you made (or didn't make) got you into the position you are in. Your next action should always be to do the next "right" thing (in that situation).
