It's on the internet, it has to be true!
If you didn't bring jerky what did I just eat?
Agree, BS.

If that will work why is my jump starter 12"x12" square and weighs 20 pounds?
If you didn't bring jerky what did I just eat?
Remember all electric stuff works on FM (F*#king Magic)...and smoke.....when you open the box and let the smoke out....it (whatever) quits.

I saw "AA", and was fully expecting this to be a thread about being a better driver by conquering alcoholism. I have to admit, I'm a little disappointed.
That being said, no. No, i don't think that would work. And even if ti would, soldering a bunch of double batteries together to jumpstart your car seems really stupid. Better idea would be to get one of those car boosting battery pack situations from the hardware store and keep it in your trunk.
Yeah....toooooo many things seem to be a big joke......and I think was intended that way.
Guess I never made a connection to "AA"...thought the title was pretty clear.....Hummm

There are some very small battery packs available. Haven't tried any, but some of the reviews look promising. http://www.cnet.com/news/pocket-sized-jump-starters/
So this may be a maybe?....or a stretch?

I doubt that you can get the amperage needed out of plain ole AAAs.
Oh yeah. AAA can jump your car, bring you gas, unlock your keys....oh right, batteries.
A compact car's engine, in good condition, with a starter motor in good condition, and with all electric-starter components in good condition, and all connections tight, and with the engine oil warm and thin, etc., etc., etc...when the electric-start switch is closed, the starter motor will draw AT LEAST 60 amps, at a nominal 12VDC. Under more "normal" conditions, it will certainly draw something closer to 80 or 100 amps.
That's just part of the equation. The other key factor is how long must it draw that amperage for the engine to actually start. If the engine is in good shape, it will typically start in less than 20 seconds. For an example, lets use 80 amps of current for 15 seconds. 15 seconds = about .004 hours. Drawing 80 amps for that much time works out to an energy drain from the battery of 0.333 amp-hours at the nominal 12 VDC.
An alkaline AA cell has a nominal voltage of 1.5V and an energy capacity of .18 amp-hours, max, under high amperage discharge. Here's what that means...
if you use 16 alkaline AA cells, and if you make two separate series-strings of 8 cells each, and then if you parallel-combine those two strings of cells together, you will have a "battery" with a nominal voltage of 12VDC and a total energy capacity of 0.36 amp-hours.
This means, with 16 AA cells, it's definitely possible. To use only a single string of 8 AA cells, it might work if the starter motor only draws the good-case 60 amps, and then engine starts in less that 10 seconds.
That's my 2 cents...
Thanks TJ, .........good to have some on that know his stuff instead of speculating.......
So many "magic" you tubes out there kinda hard to tell.
Looks like he didn't just hook it up and try it, but hooked it up and let it sit a while......make sense?.

It's a bird! It's a plane! Nope, definitely a bird.
You can do it...it is just a matter of how many.
The reason why most car batteries or jump starters are so big and heavy is because of the battery chemistry. Lead acid is pretty cheap....and heavy.
I've taken a vow of poverty. To annoy me, send money.
