My office expenses include a "storm water management fee" for my portion of the roof and the parking lot. It's taxed at the same rate as the sewage fee. It doesn't even make a difference if you can prove that all rainwater is diverted to a retention pond. Today's government is the personification of a blood sucking leach.

This is what I see when I think of elected officials:

I was trying to be nice. But since you mentioned it, they also remind me of this:

I guess that's one way to try to cope with it.

You put them there or if you didn't, you lost.
What is it about that concept that's hard to understand?

I guess that I'm not as docile and accepting as you are when it comes to getting raped and screwed by a government that has no regard for the people.

Working myself into a lather without a recourse is not exactly my cup of tea.

I guess you're right. I'd be better off to lie down and say nothing, just like the rest of the sheep. And I will. When I'm dead.

Obviously you confuse noise with action. Just because the sheep aren't barking into the night doesn't mean they aren't doing anything. Let's agree to disagree in our approach...I do believe our goals are similar.

    No

Never let injustice go. We must think different.

    I must add, I am a hypocrite.
If I stood up for every injustice I've seen, I'd be dead. I do what I can. If I can touch it, and the issue needs touching, I'm there. I can't believe everyone is not like this.

Ken I agree with you. I send off a lot of emails to the elected losers. I can say one thing about 99% of our politicians if there mouth is open they're lying.
All through history it has been proven that the right to keep and bear arms is ultimately the only thing that keeps us free

That's what I've been saying for years.
Do everything that's in your power to do. Then inspire others to do their part. Once you've done all that, move on to something else and stop obsessing over something of which you don't have control.

Actually, this isn't new or isolated to Maryland. Storm water runoff in localities that do not have storm sewers separate from black/gray water sewers put an enormous strain on sewage treatment plants and often result in raw sewage being released into fresh water streams and rivers. Often times the same water that down stream cities use for fresh water. It's a serious problem and only money and education can fix it. Locally, my community does have separate drains for storm and black/gray water and a very strong educational presence so folks understand the ramifications of allowing pollutants to enter storm water runoff along with stiff fines for anyone caught doing so. As a result, our lake has no restrictions on eating the fish. The water is safe to swim in and the water is used downstream by the city of Indianapolis as safe drinking water (1 of 3 such lakes). That's the payoff.

This may be "taxing rain" but the basis of this legislation is to clean up Chesapeake Bay and the legislation was enacted because the cities and locals refused to act... apparently.
