Default A handy website.

I've been meaning to add this for a while. It's a very handy site that covers all things smallholding, from starting a garden to preserving the harvest and keeping chickens. Hope you find it useful

Looks like a very good reference, though it isn't specific to my area. I'll be doing a lot of reading on there. Thanks for sharing!

winnie, aren't you the chicken expert here? I have been thinking of starting my own coop. Would you mind a few PM's on some specifics to get me started?

Default Chicken Story

OK, here's another story that starts - Once upon a time in a forest called Uwharrie. A young and not particularly knowledgeable, Special Forces student was undergoing survival training. One particular task was hypnotizing a chicken before doing him in. I don't know why, but is was cool at the time. You place his head on the ground (beak down) and slowly draw a line in the dirt from his beak to about six inches. Continue tracing the line in the dirt for about 30-60 seconds and then slow to a stop, The chicken will not move from that position and you can place stick over his neck, etc.

HEY!!!!!!!!! I said I didn't know what it proved and still don't, but it was fun.
