Default Making utensils and bowls out of wood?

I recently made a spoon out of wood and now I'm working on a cup/bowl. I was wondering if I could just pour/soak them in mineral oil and then use them. How do I was them?

Basically, I'm just asking if there's any special things I have to do to them.

Food grade mineral oil will work just fine. I've soaked mine in oil then I dropped them in water to raise any grain. I sanded and resoaked in oil again.

Just wash them. They should be fine. If you feel like the water is penetrating into the wood, soak them in mineral oil again.

and always wash them before food dries in them, to avoid the need to scrubbing or soaking them.

never leave them in water. never leave them wet for prolonged periods, and dry after washing.

if you do those things, they can give many years of use, even generations.
