    Default Toilet Paper Tubes

Start saving them now for next years seedlings. Cut the tubes in half so that you get two tubes from one roll. When it's time to plant your seedlings set them on a cookie sheet and fill with your planting medium. When it's time to transplant your seedlings to your gardent - prepare the soil - slide the seedlings part way down the tube. The top of the tube will help protect the plant from any late chills that may occur. The tubes will decompose.

    not a bad idea.

There is also a trick for rolling up pots out of newspaper.

I like that. Depending on where you live, there is a little cretin called a cut worm that will ring your newly planted veggies and kill them. The raised edges would keep the little beggar out.

Default Another use for toilet paper tubes.

Cut them into 1/2 - 1 inch sections and set on a hard surface. Then melt paraffin and add cotton balls, dryer lint, sawdust and/or small slivers of pine lumber or rich pine. Pour this concoction into the tubes and allow to dry. Store them in a ziploc bag and use them as fire starters. Just peel back a section of the tube and light it. It works great when trying to ignite damp wood or kindling.

Well yeah, but it plays havoc on your seedlings.

You should leave a small amount of toilet paper on the roll in case some critter decides to nibble on your veggies. The garden will be less messy that way.....just sayin'.

I guess it depends on where you plant them. I did say another use for toilet paper tubes.

Both of these are super ideas!! This weekend when I have more time I am going to make some of the little fire starters for my little coffee can cook stove. To late to plant anything here now.

Great ideas for something most of us probably throw out.

Haven't tried them for seedlings yet, will next planting tho. Mine have cotton balls, twigs, and vaseline. Put them in a baggie and hung from the fence. Sun heats it up enough for the vaseline to soak the roll. Talk about starting a fire with a quickness.

That is a great idea to reuse the tubes.

    Thanks for the tip.
