Of course I read what you write. That's why I responded the way I did. What I do or do not sell has nothing to do with my opinion.

"Still not a great survival knife though."

I realize it's a matter of opinion but I would bet my life on one just as quick as any other knife.

"They are fragile, and the range of jobs they can do is you have to admit pretty limited compare to my RAT 7 for example."

They aren't fragile. They are working knives. Tools. Are they the same caliber as a RAT 7? Of course not. But then they don't cost nearly as much either.

"I have mine for trade and barter, and in the truck just in case...but for survival situations, in my case more likely urban, a Mora is like a child's toy."

    Okay, if you say so.

"My RAT will break car windows, chew metal, take down small trees and still keep a cutting edge...the Mora could never do any of that."

Of course it will break car windows. Care to volunteer yours for a test?

I would never chew through metal with any knife and as far as small trees. I can baton stuff. I guess it depends on your definition of small tree. Can the RAT 7 eat bigger trees? Sure.

    "It's cheap."

As I said, it's inexpensive. Not cheap. Good metal, well made, Nice edge out of the box.

"But you can also use a kitchen knife to do what the Mora would do."

That you would have to prove.

"Further more...sending "newbies", "numpties" and "wannabes" in the wild with a Mora as their primary survival tool is down right dangerous !!!"

Sending them out there with any sharp is dangerous. They are numpties.

"The knife, being your primary survival tool, can't be cheap."

If you truly believe that then you would buy the Bear Gryllis knive. It's very expensive so it must be great for a primary survival tool.

"I would rely on a stone knife any-day before i would rely on a Mora for my survival."

    Yeah, sure you would.

"If you had to go survive somewhere for an indefinite amount of time...and you could choose the knife you would bring with you...would you seriously take a Mora"

    Yeah, I do.

I cannot speak to any Mora other than the red handled S1 (and I am only a recent owner of that one). So far it has done everything I have asked it to. Good for fine detail work. Used it for pruning smaller branches from my Maple trees. I have several knives, and would not hesitate to carry this one with me anywhere. If it was my only knife, I would be quite comfortable with it.

    Cool Alright....

(Deep sigh) It doesn't do me any good to put Remy on my ignore list when you guys keep quoting him, & since it's obvious that he's got his panties in a wedgie over some things just let me respond to several points he's raised.

Q.) Would you go out into the wilds with just the Mora?
A.) Cody Lundin does & it's the only knife he uses. That's good enough for
me; however, I always carry more than one knife.

Q.) I can chop down bigger trees with my RAT 7!
A.) I can chop down bigger trees than your RAT 7 with my axe, so there!

Q.) How can you designate the Mora as the "Official Wolf-Pack Survival
Knife" without the Wolf-Pack voting on it?
A.) Because I can! Anyway, who said you were a member of the Wolf-Pack? Vol-West was, but he left!

Okay, brain-buster for the day; what clues that may reveal how genuine Remy is can be discerned from the books in the photo just to the left of the knife photo he posted? Check it out!

Actually, in the 1690's, in Salem, Massachusetts, male "witches" were not called "witches," they were called "wizards."

I thought the presence of books would be a point in your favor...at least that is how it seemed to me.

Aaaaaaaaaand, if you go to Salem, you GOTTA' stop in at the Salem Beer Works! The pumpkin beer comes out in the Fall - just in time for all the Halloween tourists. The beer is great!

What on earth are you suggesting now?
So...because i have survival books i am not "genuine" ?

Is this a witch hunt ?
No, not because of your opinion. & not because you read the books. Now genius, figure it out!

What I can't ask a question? What did that babble mean or have anything to do with knives.

I think I might buy one of these they sound good to have around.

Remy - I just expressed a different view than yours. I didn't say yours was invalid only that I didn't find truth in it. Que sura.

Native Dude uses an S1 where he lives and I think Mac mentioned he uses a 780 in Brazil, although he appears to have an arsenal of sharps. I happened to respect those guys and I'm sure they put themselves in harms way, just living, far more often than I do.

In the end, if you don't trust it for survival then by all means don't use it. I'm comfortable with mine and don't have any reservations with it.

    Cool In the end...

The original point was that some new members that are looking for a good quality knife but don't have the "long green" that a RAT 7 or K-Bar would cost should seriously consider getting this knife. I love my Mora, but I ain't gettin' rid of "Bull"!

No, it doesn't even matter if you get one at all, it's just a very good knife at a low cost, & for some that can be a blessing!

i own three. i do think they are great knives for the money, but they are limited. if i had a choice between my mora or any other knife i own i would not choose my mora. if you can save like 30 or 40 more bucks you can get a way better knife like a kabar or anything from ontario knife co. but if you cant afford it then go with a mora.

You got it! That's my whole point! However you bring up another interesting thought; you say you own 3 Moras plus other knives. So you obviously think the more expensive knives are better, why the 3 Moras? Just curious.
