Around here we generally refer to opportunivores as dead folks.

Sourdough/HopeAK, the more of your post I read, the more I want to become your friend, move up that way and help you hide bodies.
Ken has helped me out so much with legal stuff, I need to keep track of it so I can pay him back. I will be placing a 'score card' in my sig as a reminder.

Security is mostly a superstition. It does not exist in nature, nor do the children of men as a whole experience it. Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than outright exposure. Life is either a daring adventure, or nothing. Helen Keller

Okay. Now I've got this mental picture of Sourdough and the geese lined up on the couch eating popcorn and watching the show. And all of them have a Survival Vest on.

At the bridge why shock load your rope? Why not use a couple of Prusik knots and climb with those? I always wear a Wilderness Instructors belt or the Blackhawk equivalent.

Don't bust out the drivers side window. I'm pretty sure that is where you will be when your driving...

I clipped into a rescue 8 and rappelled down about 12'. IRC it wasn't as bad as they lead on. The Blackhawk Industries velcro seems to hold up and it is already much stiffer.

I bought em for gun belts and don't have any designs on using them for anything else. I can rig a seat harness out of a length of rope in a matter of seconds.
