    Default 10 cent knife

Found this and thought I would pass it along.
May have been posted before, but a search didn't show anything.

M40 has a lot of good info. I've made several of those knives.

They are absolutely worth it. If you have a bench grinder or any kind of sander, you can make one in about a minute. The only caution when making them is to not let the blade get too hot. Here are a few that I’ve made. I just put duct tape handles on them.

Crash, have you tested these as knives? Do they take an edge as well as the claims and will they hold up to use? It looks like a great thing to tuck into a kit!

I have. Obviously they are not intended for anything heavy, but cutting cordage or even cutting away clothing to access an injury - they will do fine. With a belt sander they are pretty easy to quickly get to "shave sharp". If the blade gets too hot though, I doubt it will hold an edge very well.

Here's a little better view of one.

I like the idea and I like the duct tape handle you added to yours. I might have to make a few of these.

Since it really is a three finger knife, I have found that a small paracord lanyrard that you can slip your little finger through makes it easier to handle.

I'm kicking around ideas about something I can make as a slip on handle that might be helpful in some other aspect but I havnt come up with a winner yet...

Looks like I have a new project! I just made firesteels for Christmas gifts and gifted cut down hacksaw blades for use as strikers. Now I have several mid sections left. I cut the strikers from either end. I am sure I can come up with a way to attach a lanyard though and since they are just laying around......

Here are a couple that I did from the previous post of Crashs. I used that liquid tool handle rubber stuff on the top blade.

Although not fancy, they have been very handy in my tool box as a utility knife, and you can't beat the price
