This video begins with a short demo of one that I own - a Beretta Bobcat (.22 short). Then it moves on to a rifle with .22LR. It's an impressive little round - even at 440 yards.

Box says one mile......But as we have a lot of "tack drivers" around here.....I sure it's farther.

You can treat any round like artillery.

Yep, sooner or later any round becomes an indirect fire weapon.

I've got an old bolt action Marlin (really old like me!) with a nice scope on it. With a little patience small game will almost walk up to you so distance isn't important to me. To me, a 22 LR is a great, cheap, quiet, survival food procurement tool. (Notice the Politically Correct avoidance of the word WEAPON!) A few thousand rounds of hollow points won't break the bank and as long as Momma can eat all is good on the home front Ha Ha! Mike
Well, I once wanted to hit a tiny little target in the southern hemisphere in the Pacific Ocean. I aimed steady to the left of the moon and slightly high. The bullet then caught the moons gravity, slingshoted it around on direct course for the earth. It impacted the target dead on which caused a tsunami that took out a huge portion of japan. After I saw how accurate and effective it was, I was very thankful that I used a .22 short instead of a long or long rifle which would have been overkill.

Blowgun.....
Not really.
Can't understand why though.

Yes, there is a place where the .22 is king and kills anything you point it at.

If you didn't bring jerky what did I just eat?
I don't know kyrat, grandpa used one to kill cows with good results. Although they were pretty close
Don't laugh, last brick of 22 lr, before the run and at old prices, the young girl at the check out as me, "Rifle or pistol"....
Was gonna give her a bad time, but realized that you have to be 18 for rifle ammo, and 21 for pistol ammo....and she was just doing her job.
I do get a kick out of being asked for my ID, ....the cute little sweet talker....LOL.

Very interesting. Lot of people have the 22LR way under rated and don't recomend one for conceal carry. Heard before the .25 was not as hot as a 22LR.

Grandpa put the muzzle against the cow's head and knocked it out with the .22, then cut it's throat immediately. It bled out before it woke up.
We used to do the same thing with hogs.
I don't know anyone that recommends hunting wild hogs with a .22lr. Or wild cattle either.
Defense gun? No thanks to the .22 or .25 either one. If I had too, yea, but I don't have to!
I feel about naked when I have to step down to a .380 now that summer is here. At least the bad guys are not wearing coats so I might just get through to the innards.
Oh well, takes all kinds.
Yes Virginia, there is a Santa Claus, and in a perfect world a magic .22 will kill anything.

.22's are one of the most useful guns ever made within their limits, and the .22 mag is my favorite survival gun. But when it comes to wild hogs, deer, and those 2 legged critters I prefer something a little larger even though a .22 would probably take it down. The .22 has always been the perfect light weight food gun in my opion!
They can talk pine board test all they want. I worked at a hospital and after seeing a guy take three .22's to the chest and then drive himself to the hospital and walk in to the ED. He was freaked out, but, more than okay.
I will say, a .22 is better than nothing. Also, if someone pulls a .22 on me, I am not planning on sticking around to figure out what it feels like.

Hello Gentlemen,
I would be hard pressed to deliberately use my .22 for defense. 12ga Shotgun for a "personal touch" and .270 for long range. To be honest...I'd just rather not get into that type of situation in the first place. Lawyers are way too expensive and I don't want to risk pleading before the "Bleeding Hearts" in court! Mike
