Greetings from New York City.
It is going to snow today and I am quite excited! Accumulation is expected to be around 6-12".
I finally got around to searching for wilderness schools offering instructions on snow shelter building and winter camping in the northeast. Here is what I found,
1. Introduction to Winter Camping - 3 days / 2 nights
http://www.canoemaine.com/winter_trips.html
2. January 15-18, 2010: Little Lyford Lodge and Cabins
http://www.outdoors.org/about/newsro...ter-skills.cfm
3. Stuff from this guy.
http://doctorwhy.com/workshops.html
4. http://www.lunaticadventures.com/sno...derness-skills
(This one might be difficult to get to because it is in northern ontario.)
Does anyone have any good/bad experience with these trips? And also any recommendations for similar weekend trips? My goal here is to learn snow shelter building (igloo preferred) and winter camping. Ultimately; igloo & northern lights.
I am a beginner.
Thank you.
