Default $14 Billion - For What?

Estimates are that the infamous "Big Dig" project in Boston will ultimately cost around $14 Billion.

The project was intended to alleviate traffic jams in and out of Boston.

I'm pleased to report that this project was as successful as all other government projects. I was 12 miles north of Boston today. I left court at 3:45. At 6:15, I was 8 miles south of Boston.

20 miles in 2½ hours. Your tax dollars at work!

I HATE the fact that they refer to him as KSM.

If they are going to use initials to talk about him, POS is appropriate.

I wonder how much money those slim bags are going to earn out of this? I can not imagine them being able to look at themselves in the mirror when shaving

Pal, please don't blame them. Hate them if you want to, but don't blame them. If these slimeball terrorists didn't get high profile lawyers, we would have been condemned universally for failing to provide competent counsel.

Place the blame where it belongs.

Those animals should have been tried before military tribunals. Period.

Apparently they (the scumbags) wanted a military tribunal, but nooooo...we had to do it the stupid way.
Ken, am I wrong for thinking that KSM could possibly (one in a mil. chance) get off on a technicality or two?
Besides, I resent having to put up with the inconvenience that this trial is guaranteed to stir up in NYC and I hate having to pay for it.
Why can't they just build a tent in the field of PA where the plane went down and try him there?

Let me put it this way........

Civilian criminal courts were never intended to be a forum in which to try cases involving acts of war by a foreign terrorist group. Such acts, by their very nature, were acts of war - not criminal acts in the normal sense. The defendants should have been tried in a military venue, where the rules of evidence and admissability are significantly different. Rules in military courts are also far more restrictive regarding dissemination of classified/secret materials (methods and sources) to the public and the parties.

Given the widespread OFFICIAL condemnation of methods employed by our military and intelligence assets, and the fact that this is now going to be tried in a civilian court where entirely different rules apply, IF I were inclined to represent these animals (NEVER!) I would have a field day.

I can easily imagine all charges being dismissed by way of pre-trial motions - in a civilian court.

Yeah, but you responded to our discussion (my quote) about the Muhammed trial, and that's what I don't understand.

    I suspected as much.
Can't wait to see who'll represent him.

If you look up the big dig, and see who was responsible for the project, and how it went from a $4 billion project, to a $14 billion project, and then look up the definition of capitalism, I think you will see that your post makes absolutely no sense.

But it did provide him an opportunity to bash capitalism.

I had the luxury of being in Boston during the big dig. One way streets changed every single day. Roads weren't. What a mess. Then, they no more than get it done and chunks of it start falling. The closest I have ever come to getting killed was in a taxi cab in Boston in the middle of the dig. Luck and the driver had a pair or I wouldn't be typing this. You ever see a cab play chicken with a bus and win?
