I'll mix any combination of root vegetables, cabbage, spinach, celery, or onion. If there is excessive moisture I'll add flour to make a almost dough consistency. If the mixture is stiff enough i'll just dredge it in flour. Fry it in butter till browned and crisp, salt and pepper. Great for breakfast.

Along with the turkey this year I'll make a vegetarian stuffing on the side with toasted chestnuts, walnuts, apple and pare from the yard and mix with wild rice and dried fruit.

I'll also make grandma's Welsh Cakes with rum soaked raisins or cranberries.
    I do that too!
Welsh cakes... mmmm, haven't made any of those in a while. Like the idea of using cranberries.

And thanks for the recipes Nell!

    Cool What's Christmas...

...without the sweets? here's a great treat I make every year about Christmas time:

    SARGE'S FUDGE:

Pour 1 cup of milk into a very large saucepan & place over medium heat. Add 1 lb. of butter & 4 cups of sugar & heat until dissolved. Blend in 25 marshmallows, bring to a boil then add 2 oz.s of unsweetened chocolate, 12 oz.s of Hershey candy bars, (with or without almonds.) & 12 oz. pkg. of chocolate chips. Heat until mixed well. Pour onto large, greased, shallow pan, cover with waxed paper & let cool. Cut into squares & refrigerate; makes 5 lb.s.

If short on some of the ingredients, scale it down! Yum Yum!

My wife makes her family special that they call Indian Squash Pie. It is sort of like pumkin, but with more flavor. I don't do too much cooking, other than helping the misses with what she wants to make. Instead I end up making a few toys. This year I have to make two wooden airplanes complete with detachable missiles. I also spend my time brainwashing the kids so that their santa list is the same as the stuff we got them.

    My favorite kind of recipe.
All in one pot, don't need baking.
And fudge on top of it!

When visiting family for the holidays I make cheesecakes as presents:

    Chocolate Mousse Chocolate Chip

    Pumpkin

    Key Lime

    Applesauce (yes cheesecake)

    Chocolate/Raspberry

    & Chocolate Buttermilk

I also make wild mountain blueberry preserves for those who don't like cheesecake.
Everything I have posted is pure fantasy. I have not done any of the things that I have claimed to have done in my posts. I actually live in Detroit.
