    Default Grouse Hunting

    Anybody else do this?

If nothing else it is a good walk in the woods.

Beats me. My usual limit is one. Got my first when I was a kid with a 22. The bird came out of the snow by a tree a couple of feet in front of me and reflex + luck dropped it on the wing. Best wing shot I never tried to make.

IIRC there is no season for squirrel in my area. I have seen a few and was tempted to make a meal out of him.

I have done fairly well on Grouse and Quail this year. With the amount of people in the woods now though (deer/elk season) they are getting harder to scare-up. This time of year I really miss my old dog. My new one does OK (and is an enjoyable companion in the woods), but she just does not have the nose of my old one.
