Sure, they can climb trees and swim but can they mush a dog team? That's the kind of stuff that separates us from the apes....er....bears.

    Great pics. Thanks for sharing.

Jason, You are not inferring that the bear in this set of photos is a grizzlies bear, or are you........???

I was going to ask - since my knowledge of bears is very limited - but I didn't notice a discernible "hump" behind the head.

Also the shape of the head, the long and tan/buff colored muzzle.

come on "doughboy" (sorry that was very disrectful, but funny....LOL)
you know me better than that.

DoughSir, reread my post, and look at the photos (no tree climbing)

I was trying to dispel bear fallacies

I was just trying to dispel the myth that jumping into the water is a solution to getting rid of a bear thats after you....

i said, "and all bears can swim"

I guess it was a little confusing to say the word Grizzly, than post a picture of a Black Bear. I'll rewrite that original post later.

But, now I gotta go get some "boots in the field time" and try to find a grizzly in a tree!

    sorry for the confusion

Sorry, Jason......I knew that you know bears. I just did not get the intended communication....it went right over my head.

Well, I'm not impressed. It would have been awesome pics if Jason had been on the same side of the river with the bear. Or if someone had taken a picture of him wrestling the bear. Now, that would be awesome pics. These are just....nice pics.

I should have jumped in and done a strong swimmer rescue, and pulled his whooly buns to shore! Now, that would have been cool....actually that would've been cold

That would have been funny!! Bear on his back while you pull him to shore.

The water is pretty brown. Is that snow/glacial fed?

@J_M: Great pics partner, and honestly I didn't know anyone was silly enough to think that bears couldn't swim

@Rick: The best way, IMHO, to separate humans from bears is for me to give them as much distance as possible on any given occassion.
some fella confronted me the other day and asked "What's your problem?" So I told him, "I don't have a problem I am a problem"

Very nice Pics! Is it that common to see those in your area?
