    Default Hatchet?

I know that there's a saw and axe thread here but I didn't want to go through all the pages so I figured I would just ask here. So, whats a good light-weight hatchet that isn't too expensive(50 and under).

Why wouldn't you want to read through a thread that offers advice on what you are asking? By asking it again you may get the same numbered of varied responses that caused you not to read it in the first place.

Personally I prefer a Tomahawk. It can do what a hatchet does, has a longer handle for increased power in your swing,is balanced if you NEED to throw it,it's handle is easier to replace in a survival situation, And it has always been known as a fearsome weapon. JMO

Hey - that was all Rick's doing. It was a new experience for me too. Gonna look for some hatchets at the next gun show I attend.

Oh, I've thrown a lot of things over the years (rocks, sticks, balls, tantrums, fits) just not hawks.

Exactly. Mods should lock this with reference to read the sticky.

"ESTWING" You can not break it, and still light weight. Steel handle, about $36.99

First, CHRS, you really do need to read the thread. You might just learn something. Second, When you say, hatchet, what size are you thinking. Let's make certain a hatchet is a hatchet is a hatchet.

something from the elbow to finger tips is what I would think a hatchet is.

Thats what I was going to suggest. I bought one from amazon.com $39.00 with free shipping everyone I showed it to at jamboree said it was a pretty good hawk so I ordered a couple more. But if you want just a hatchet IMHO you can't beat a gerber back pack hatchet.
