Essentially it is a surplus US Army 2 1/2 ton truck. One of the rear axles is removed and the bed shortened a bit. It is still on the large side, but what a proven vehicle. And what seems to be suprising is that they are selling in the $7,500 to $10,000 range. Seems quite reasonable for such capability. I am working up the nerve now to try to persuade the wife that I absolutely, positively need one of these.
For that kind of money you could import a seventies BJ40 Land Cruiser diesel...
Mine gets close to 30 MPG..........

Quite possibly. However I am stuck in a rut, the Duece always works, and that is what I like. Have to admit the BJ40 Land Cruiser is a good looking vehicle, but just a bit small for what I am looking for.

I'm ashamed to admit I use a Jeep Unlimited, hard top, AC and all the goodies with a trailer hauling my Honda Rincon. I can go anywhere in my area in comfort, even curl up in the back since I removed the back seat.

Got this old 1987 F150. Real good firewood truck. Been through some hairy times but never made me walk. Thanks Crash for the picture help.

Looks like a fine truck to me. My next one is going to be a Ford 4x4.

I can't believe it looked like this when I got it. Paid a grand for it.

Yeah, but you got that spiffy rod and reel with it. Looks like some mods have been added.

Dang. Gotta love those re-up bonuses. Not even the Navy pays that well.

Ha no bonuses here just in debt up to my eyeballs. Luckily we get paid well, but that will soon change so the little jeep will have to go.

Wouldn't be without a 4 X 4, but remember, it will allow you to get stuck in more in-accessible place spots than ever before.

Since I have sorta, maybe , kinda decided , if wifey says its ok to get a "bobbed duece", I figure a tow along camper would be useful. This is a model I am thinking about

If you want a bit more room, you could put a fifth wheel on the bobbed deuce.

I pulled off the road onto the soft shoulder while waiting for the rest of the convoy to drop their load. The trailer caused too much drag, and the tractor couldn't pull itself out, the tires just kept digging in. A captain drove past in a HUMVEE and asked if she could help pull me out. Yeah right! I had to wait for another HET to come pull me out. Pretty embarrassing.
