    Ok so blacks retract their claws and Grizz can't.

    Correct. Black bears = Retraction. Grizzlies = No apologies. No retractions. They stand on their story.

    But I've seen black bear tracks in S.Ga. and know that those little dots at the end of their toes are claws. Although this was in an ant hill in loamy/sandy soil.
    Do I get a booby prize??
