Hello everyone. I finally decided to introduce myself. I'm a wilderness survival and tracking enthusiast, who collects Russian military surplus arms (mostly Mosin Nagants). The reason that I got into wilderness survival and primitive skills in general was mainly because I've lived in the city for 26 years. And up until about a year ago, I couldn't tell you what kind of tree was in my front yard. And one day it hit me: what if something happened and my family depended on me for their survival? As I told my wife (who thought I was crazy at suddenly wanting to go Ted Nugent -just kidding, I don't look good in loin cloths), what if we were suddenly overtaken by a natural disaster and had to live off of our own means? What would we do? During the last big ice storm around in Kentucky, some people did not have power for about a month. So essentially, I chose to be prepared. Hence, I began my love for primitive skills. I enjoy it thoroughly, and I look forward to passing on my knowledge to my son. I look forward to participating and learning from others, here. I was so happy when I found a forum for what I love.
