Default Long time listener, first time caller

Hi everybody, I've been trolling this forum for a couple weeks now and have really been enjoying all the expertise on this site. A little about me:

-- I've lived in the northeast my whole life (grew up in VT, lived in MA, currently live in Southern Tier of NY)
-- I know a lot about wilderness survival, but am not an expert
-- I am an expert in wild edibles of the northeast
-- I am interested in geology and archaeology of the northeast
-- My day job is as an Engineering Psychologist for IBM
-- I'm also an adjunct professor (I teach a variety of psychology classes)

Looking forward to learning from you all...

Welcome home. It all started with my childhood. My mother was an IBM 700. I'm sure dad was attracted to her vacuum tubes. And her peripherals weren't bad either. Anyway, it was years before I realized my father was....was....a......a UNIVAC. There, I've said it. Oh, the shame of it all............Do you think you can help me?

Some are beyond any form of help. Sad but true. Sorry, Rick. You're S.O.O.L.

@Gray Wolf-- Yes I read it, though I'm no expert in wilderness survival. My initial reaction was that it took an awful lot of pages for Gonzales to simply point out that mind-set is critical in a survival situation... And all along I thought the best way to extract myself from a tricky situation would be to run around in circles screaming "I'm gonna die, I'm gonna die!" If anything, the book hammered home what some folks have already written on this forum-- survival is part knowledge, part luck, and part hope.

    What were your thoughts?

@Rick-- LOL. Just remember-- you are perfectly sane. It's the world outside that's crazy :-)
